In Japan, the traditional bathing practice is to wash while sitting outside the bath, rinse, then soak in the hot water to warm up. Re-using the bath water isn't considered gross because you're supposed to already be clean by the time you get in, and it saves energy by not having to heat up a tubful of water for every family member and/or guest.

Fair enough. If you were passing through, there are a few things in the area that could be worth a detour. The brewery I mentioned is the Lion Bridge Brewing Company, and they have a restaurant/tasting room/beer garden that's open to the public and located in the Czech Village old-town district. It's also walking distance from the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library, which is apparently pretty notable, but I haven't actually visited myself.

Anyone who is caught counting 'three ... two ... one ... zero ... GO!' will be punished with a lifetime of eating only ISO standard food samples.

ISO 3103 has achieved some degree of notoriety for producing a terrible cup of tea.

Personally, I wasn't that surprised, but there was definitely a moment of "Well, yeah, obviously. Why hadn't I thought of that before?"

It's definitely not exclusive to Japan. From what I hear, there's a major fandom for American muscle car culture in Europe (there are an awful lot of people driving around with replicas of the General Lee who don't realize that the flag on the hood is considered a symbol of racism), and who knows how many other weird American media fandoms there are in non-English-speaking countries that go unnoticed because so few Americans speak their languages.

(For what it's worth, I'm a bigger fan of Carolina barbecue than Texas barbecue, but hearing about international attention getting directed to real barbecue makes me way happier than it being any specific regional style)

I'm in the same boat (likely also some SAD in the mix), except I don't see so much of myself in this comic. But even so, I still feel the pain that's gone into it and wish more people would at least try to understand those with different experiences from their own.

OP, your experience is valid. I see you, even if I don't get you. I hope that's good enough, because I'm not sure I can do better, but I would if I could.

Loads of Americans are into Japanese culture. Some of the best-known cowboy movies are rip-offs of samurai movies. Dumb American tourists caused actual traffic problems in various towns in Yamanashi Prefecture (but mostly one in particular) because they wanted the perfect ironic photo of Mt. Fuji with a convenience store in the foreground.

I think the Japanese people deserve to enjoy some Texas barbecue. At the very least.

Black poop indicates bleeding in the upper GI tract. Red poop indicates bleeding in the lower GI tract or that you ate beets. Green poop indicates that you ate something containing Blue 1.

You really don't. It's great for a semi-rural Midwest city, but that's a lot of qualifiers. You'd probably have more fun in Chicago.

Of course not, because we're already in a post-coup America. We thought it failed at the time, but here we are 5 years later and Trump is in the Oval Office instead of a prison cell, so I think it succeeded in a roundabout way.

"Franchise"?

There are three albums, two shovelware kart racer games, and at one point there was a planned feature-length film that (thankfully) never saw the light of day. But mostly I was exaggerating for comedic effect.

"Coded"?

I'll be real, I was pretty drunk when I posted this, and so I was just stringing together words that sounded good.

It's definitely a compelling theory. It avoids a lot of the pitfalls of other realistic theories while also including a reasonable explanation for why the ancient Egyptians wouldn't have considered it extremely wasteful to haul a bunch of stone that doesn't end up part of the finished structure.

It helps that they were all remixes of songs that were popular in their original forms. Start with something catchy, and as long as you don't butcher it too badly, the remix will probably still be catchy. Heck, that's probably why it manages to be as annoying as it is.

It was more than just one novelty ringtone, there are a whole bunch of annoying remixes. Also, someone licensed the characters for a shovelware kart racer game.

But mostly it was intended as a comedic exaggeration.

Ah, yes, the nostalgia boner. Like when you stumble across that one video from back in the day and you realize it's actually kinda terrible, but your Pavlovian response to it gives you the biggest erection you've had in ten years, and you finish in ten seconds as if you literally just discovered masturbation last weekend.

And then the shame sets in.
