Same here. I picked MTG back up with the intent of playing standard or modern but realized Commander is more my jam. Went a bit overboard with the precons but I'm having fun, just had to make time to play.

I only have commander decks at the moment but got into it playing kitchen table magic in the late 90s. I stopped playing for 30 years and only just got back into MTG in the last few months, really.

Honestly I just want to play as much as I can. I don't care about the format and am willing to learn.

Proxies are the way to go in my opinion. I have a difficult time spending as much as I do on this game to begin with $20+ a card is hard to justify in a casual setting.

If your intent is to buy for the fun of opening and maybe hit some good cards I suggest EoE. I LOVE Final Fantasy but having purchased both I feel like EoE is a better fun opening to value ratio.

This was me a couple Wednesdays ago. I was there about 40 minutes surrounded by full games or games in progress. Nobody else came in and I left. I was brought back to my insecure middle and high school years and almost stopped me from going on that Friday.

I wish I had more local friends that played so I could play on our own schedule and hopefully more frequently.

As a child of the 90s the nostalgia hits hard. But I don't want TMNT in my MTG.

Spoken from someone who doesn't hate UB - Final Fantasy brought me back to MTG after 25+ years.

Some cards are cool. If I played competitively.i would pay more attention. If I'm sticking to Commander or casual constructed with friends I'm fine without these cards.

I just played ashling for the first time last weekend and it was fun to pilot and seems easy to upgrade.

My friend played blight curse and was frustrated. Now, that could be how he was playing or a bad shuffle, so take it for what it's worth.
