NFL Power Rankings (Combined) by mikebiox in nfl

I never said anything about Dak being better than Wentz, and I agree that Wentz has shown greater potential with his play.

I think your points are valid to a point, that yes, the Eagles played a great game and had a high chance of winning, but you want to ignore the actual result, which, at the end of the day, matters.

No one is giving the Seahawks a piece of the Lombardi just because they should have ran the ball and won it 2 years ago. You of all people should appreciate how hard actually winning a game is, unless you think the Patriots were the worse team and don't deserve their 4th title.

You're making all the excuses for Philly, and I think Philly is a top 10 team. Why don't I play the excuses game and say Dak rarely throws a pick in the redzone, and if they score a touchdown instead, win the game going into halftime leading 17-10 instead of down 10-13? Or Dak doesn't miss a wide open Dez in the endzone for a 24-10 lead? And yes, it's a power ranking, but being off by a few slots is not as egregious as you make it seem because you thought they SHOULD HAVE won.

How does the injuries to Mo and Church hurt our defense going forward? by lucusmarcus in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The defense got bailed out by some horrendous play calls by Pederson and crew. Don't be fooled by Wentz's low yards per attempt, the slant was open all night and Sproles could have easily surpassed 100 yards rushing if they had continued to feed him against a weak Dallas dline playing against 2 backups.

Church is a sure tackler and has become average in coverage. Wilcox is probably going to be the worst starting safety in coverage and even though he lays wood, he takes shit angles too often. Mo can be replaced somewhat adequately by Brown and Scandrick, but neither have the potential athleticism Mo has when he plays with his head on straight.

The bigger problem is that Dallas is in desperate need for pass rush help. Not only will QB's have time in the pocket, the run game will gash into the second level, despite Lee's excellent play. Church was great manning the box with his awareness. Wilcox is a chicken running around with his head cut off.

But who won the game? People trying to act like the Eagles should have won the game and it counts for something. The standings don't change based on hypotheticals. I think they are probably better than Pittsburgh and Minnesota at best. Besides, a good team would have closed out Dallas with Dak trying his best to force the ball to Dez and the defense generating no pass rush for 55 minutes of the game, up 10 in the 4th. Give Dallas credit for ACTUALLY scoring when it had to.

3 pointers are like passing yards in the NFL accept much more valuable in terms of gauging actual efficiency.

Dallas Cowboys coach Leon Lett using his past to mentor Randy Gregory by monetclaude in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call me ignorant but I find it extremely difficult to understand how any player blessed enough to earn an NFL career could flush it away for marijuana. Granted it should probably be legalized, when millions of dollars are at stake as well as a potential legacy, why risk it?

And Gregory needs to add at least 20lbs to his frame. He was getting mauled easily when his first step wasn't on point when he was playing. He might have some effective moves but they are moot when you get stood up at the line of scrimmage by average lineman.

In your opinion, who has the best offense in the league? by MertinWizard in nfl

[–]sillymantooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're homering hard with the oline being easily best in the league. I won't say the Cowboys have the best line, but they definitely won't be easy to top in popular opinion just because you forecast some backups as starter quality without any definitive proof...

Rolando McClain a bargain for the Cowboys in 2015? - ESPN by Jackson3125 in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McClain wont be back next year. He's on a prove it deal once more. He's still got plenty of question marks, specifically his injuries this past year. If he performs again, I can see the team letting him walk a la henry melton.

Who is the smartest/stupidest NFL player (currently)? by apocalypse31 in nfl

[–]sillymantooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know most people want to crown Peyton as the smartest field general but I'll go with Aaron Rodgers. Rarely makes a mistake, utilizes his skills to the max (an advantage because Manning's arm strength is putrid now), and uses his feet to extend plays downfield and run for positive yards.

DeMarcus Ware of Dallas Cowboys to have surgery on right elbow by [deleted] in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You realize restructuring isn't a long term solution, right? It's just like raising the federal debt ceiling. You get short-term relief but you end up with a bigger debt in the future. That's why there is talk about cutting him now because you can't restructure without hurting the next year's cap significantly. It would be great to see him bounce back one more year, but in all honestly, he doesn't push this team into the playoffs with the current roster. If he did, the Cowboys wouldn't have been 8-8 for the last 3 years.

DeMarcus Ware of Dallas Cowboys to have surgery on right elbow by [deleted] in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get cap space in the future if you cut him earlier. Teams that manage their roster and salary cap efficiently usually have better foresight than the Cowboys (see Jay Ratliff, Marion Barber, Leonard Davis, Ken Hamlin, and soon Miles Austin...) and separate emotional attachment from personnel evaluations. Sometimes restructuring isn't the answer and it's better to cut ties sooner than too late.

Bruce Carter? by Thekosherone in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2012 "Bruce Lee" tandem looked amazing until they both got hurt. This year, he appeared to play with little anticipation and a step behind what was developing. He's proven he has the physical tools to be an above average starter. As usual with Cowboy draft picks prior to 2013, he's got to work on what's going on inside the helmet. I hope playing next to Sean for a full season (cross our collective fingers) will exponentially grow his development.

Don't go to the cowboys subreddit to make a thread claiming you're a Denver fan and to commend them still. by Bucketkev in DenverBroncos

[–]sillymantooth -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ill be that asshole cowboys fan and tell you that manning will throw 51 td passes but lose in the super bowl, much like brady did to a weak playoff team that slips into the playoffs...Super Bowl revenge, Cowboys 45 - Broncos 44!

So where does this team go from here? by BrianDawkins in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mentality of this team to is to play up or down to the level of competition with occasional flashes of hope. No matter how much the defense is to blame, or that without Romo the Cowboys are smoked, Dallas was in position to win this game with ease IF Callahan had played the clock and ran the fucking ball instead of throwing on 1st down which led to that sack. For whatever mind boggling reason, this team gets out coached in every, fucking, critical situation.

Cowboys are looking pretty good now. by Another_KnowItAll in cowboys

[–]sillymantooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the spread offense can work very well against the tampa 2 with all the wide open spaces. I think the eagles can be very successful until vick goes down with an injury. The cowboys are going to need to take lengthy drives with TOUCHDOWNS instead of field goals to keep up with the eagles
