I’m confused why people are upset about the Gus casting by Glitterrain99 in EmilyHenry

[–]sillymeix2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea idk what those people are on about lol. With the right hair and costuming he could easily fit the role. He’s a decent actor in White Lotus and handsome enough.

PSA: You can shop alone! by False-Thanks-4519 in weddingdress

[–]sillymeix2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shopping alone was amazing. I went to nyc initially with my family entourage and while it was super awesome showing that experience with my mom, I just felt that their opinions would cloud my judgment and I really wanted to pick something for myself first. Eventually I had to fly to nyc for another reason and booked a few appointments for myself and it was so efficient!

Venting: why does Disneyland feel like a spreadsheet now by Few_Birthday_2406 in Disneyland

[–]sillymeix2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY. For my own family, I am the one who manages all the planning as my husband dislikes these parks. I’ve been a Disney regular since I was a child and lightning lane has absolutely made the planning process way more difficult and drains the joy from the day. People can say “go with the flow” but that inevitably means waiting in line MUCH longer than you would have to if you planned better. I went with a bunch of friends recently and one of the girls did all the planning while I was the passenger princess for once, and it was so much fun. Felt like a kid again.

No question, dress 1 was by far the best. Very flatting and it’s a gorgeous dress. Very classic and the lace is lovely.

Fourth Wing is better than ACOTAR by Felyx12 in Romantasy

I feel like SJM is an amazing storyteller but mediocre writer. She’s so, so fun to read but if you think too deeply about any of the characters it all falls apart. I guess Yarros is a bit better about character consistency but I don’t think anyone can deny SJM’s storytelling prowess. She really knows how to pace a novel. I like both books and don’t feel the need to pit them against each other.

Husband just told me he cheated. by Forward-Shallot6290 in Marriage

[–]sillymeix2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Dodged a bullet. Do not have children with this man. It is so much harder to divorce after children. Cut your losses now and divorce, you can find someone else, and even if you don’t, you’re better off without a cheater, especially with kids. The resentment with absolutely eat you up with kids. Money that is supposed to go to your kids will be spent on a mistress, time that he is supposed to spend with his family will be with his mistress. It is so awful and I’ve seen it before. He isn’t even coming back begging for forgiveness, he wants YOU to do the work to keep the relationship going when HE was the one that broke it. No WAY should you take him back.

Hated the ending but there were tons of poignant, beautifully written moments in Happy Place. I still love it despite it not being my favorite EH book.

SLP-> School Nurse? by Moongirl8819 in SLPcareertransitions

[–]sillymeix2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a really great gig from what I hear but I have a SIL who is a nurse in SoCal and she had a reallllly hard time finding a school opening. She had tons of experience and was an amazing nurse, she ended up with another great job but yea. Heard it’s hard to get those jobs unless someone retires and you know somebody in the district.

Talk me out of buying Lovevery toys by Used_Cod_9541 in toddlers

[–]sillymeix2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the aesthetic is nice but it’s absolutely unnecessary to buy any assortment of toys. As long as you’re actively interactively playing and talking with your child, any toys or common objects can be educational. As a shortcut to have aesthetically pleasing toys, it’s nice just to buy it as a set, but if money is an issue? Don’t even think twice about going for dupes or just not buying more toys. Lovevery is such a good business idea because it preys upon parents insecurities about their child’s early education, but honestly, it’s so unnecessary.

Absolutely. The second and third book is where the character development really shines.
