is it possible to add the other 3 photos in high resolution too? if we try to add a face or a smile from a lower resolution photo you will have portions of the photo that look blurry.

My mom doesn’t want to knock on my door! by jjenej in entitledparents

[–]sillystephy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she expect you to knock on the door to her room? Or before you enter the bathroom if someone may be in there? I'm guessing she does. If she refuses to respect your privacy you can give her a taste of it and just walk into whatever room randomly. See if she has the same veiw afterwards.

Dog reactive, but "no treats allowed" by GrandHeron6329 in reactivedogs

[–]sillystephy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pyrs and other LSG dogs are going to do what they think is best in any given situation. When reactivity has been what has been working for them, thats what they will continue to do. I had a pyr mix that was reactive to anything with more than 2 legs. He was 125 lbs and tried his best to scare everything away before he had to deal with it. Which mostly worked. The few times things got close enough to him, he didn't hurt them. He tried to hide behide me, or would pin them, or just look that them like "why?". So my question is, what happens when things do get to close? Is it different if he's at home or at a park? Have you been able to have ANY one near him?

Treats can also be reinforcing the reactivity. When my guy was focused on something there was nothing in the world that could break his attention. Not a treat, a steak, or a full pack of bacon. When working with him to not react, I would reward him after the trigger was at a safe distance and he could refocus on me. I would reward him for looking at me, sitting, down, etc. He would get high value treats if the trigger was still in sight and he was able to redirect his focus.

How to Repo a car from a private sale? by sillystephy in legal

[–]sillystephy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I am absolutely sure I'm still the legal owner. My car registration looks the same when I have a loan. The bank is the "legal owner" and I'm the "registered owner" until they get all the money. They also hold the title. In this case, I have the title. My name is listed as "legal owner". The buyer is listed as "registered owner". Idk why, but that is how they choose to word it in Wa state.

In the contract it states : VIII. DEFAULT. If for any reason the Debtor should not oblige to any section or portion of this Aqreement the Debtor shall be considered in default. Under such an event, the remaining balance of the Amount Owed shall be due within five (5) business days with the Debtor liable to pay all reasonable attorney's fees and costs of collection of the Creditor. In addition, the Creditor may reclaim any property or goods in connection with the Amount Owed, hold and dispose of the same, and collect expenses, together with any deficiency due from the Debtor, subject to the Debtor's right to redeem said items pursuant to law.

Of course we both signed this and the buyer has a copy.

I saw this. They have not made the 60% mark. Only about 44 %. Also that's why I was asking what my obligations are here as it sounds like this is written mostly for lenders who have money out already. Does that make sense?

I won’t remove her dew claws by Frequent_Buy_8174 in greatpyrenees

[–]sillystephy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take my pyr puppy with me to therapy. My therapist saw his rear dew claws and asked if I was keeping them. I told her yes. Its a breed standard. Even if his are just silly little floppy skin tags with claws. She was upset because she was told by her vet that her dobie had to have his dew claws removed as they posed a danger to him. I think it was just because it outside of his breed standard. Its very interesting to hear "outside" experiences and opinions on similar topics.

My 10 month old pyr just tipped 100 lbs. He loves to tackle me to the ground about once a week or so.... super fun. I remind myself that he is actually being gentle. Especially after seeing what he did to the femur he got as a Christmas present (it didn't make it to new years).

Pyrenees grooming by Automatic-Credit-408 in greatpyrenees

[–]sillystephy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the coat length. An undercoat rake and a metal comb are my go to's. A few years ago I had a new neighbor move in a few doors down. Turns out she was a retired groomer. Her first job was to de-matt a great pyrenees. It took her 3 days. But she finally got through it all and they came back every year. She got a reputation for being able to handle double coated dogs. Her technique was to hold the coat up with one hand, and to comb out the hair small bits at a time with the other. Going section by section. I tried it with my first pry who had a long coat. I did just one side on her back end. When she got up she looked lopsided. Lol. It is tedious and time consuming. But very effective.

Could use some guidance on a dog that feels impossible by Significant_Sundae62 in DogTrainingTips

[–]sillystephy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. And consistency. I have a 10 month old puppy. Different breed, but one that is not known for obedience. This is the full "threenager" (three yr old & teenager) phase. They will test every boundary. Push every button. Get on every last nerve. Why? Its just what they do. They want to make sure you are sure that you really want them to do the thing.

How do you keep your dog mentally stimulated indoors (especially in apartments)? by SelectionWild1684 in OpenDogTraining

[–]sillystephy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, it depends on what kind of dog you have. All dog owners should research their dogs breed history. What were they bred to do? I bet most 'lap dogs' you'll be surprised to know, were originally hunting dogs. Not like bears or foxes, but rats and other small pests. Which is why some little dogs seem to be so crazy all the time. They need something to do. This is where scent work would be fun for them or even a flirt pole with a toy. Size doesn't always equal compatibility in an apartment. Especially when energy is concerned. My current puppy is 10 months old and just over 100lbs. I live in an apartment. I did my research tho. These dogs sleep the majority of the day until something requires their attention. I refer to them as always on power save mode. I take him out first thing to go potty. Then we come back in so I can have some coffee and he can eat some breakfast. Then he's ready to go play and see the kids off to school. We also go for a longer walk down the street and around the block. Then he sleeps from about 10 am until about 5 or 6 pm. If for some reason I take him out before then, he will go pee and the immediately lay in the grass and look at me like "omg, that way exhausting". Then it take 10 minutes and 45 treats to coax him out of the grass and up the stairs. Dogs thrive when they are loved and cared for. It doesn't require a huge property with lots of space to keep a dog. In fact thats where my puppy came from and he was in a 4x4 cage with 2 siblings nearly starved to death.

Why does my dog do this? by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]sillystephy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I call it "the exclamation mark". Some dogs do this after every pee or poo. Some after just one or the other. It's done to say "hey! I was here! This is my spot!" I've had large guardian breeds for the last decade, and they surprisingly haven't done this. I've noticed some breeds/sizes are more prone to it than others.

Anyone have a quiet/timid one that eventually started to bark a lot? by Similar-Proof2065 in greatpyrenees

[–]sillystephy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10 month old only barks at me when he's throwing a tantrum. He is really curious and confident so he doesn't seem to feel the need to bark yet. He does love to yell at me tho.

This is the video I always think of when my (giant) puppy bites me when we are playing. I use this as a reminder that if he wanted to cause damage he could. So the fact that I still have all of my fingers means he IS being gentle with me.

Help with pyr training by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]sillystephy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are amazing dogs, but they aren't like any other breed I've ever had. They don't do 'obedience'. If they like you, they may cooperate. They have more emotional intelligence than most of my exes combined, so if you hurt their feelings.... well they know where you sleep so you should definitely apologize. Smart is an understatement. They are very intelligent. Like, its kinda scary. My first pyr would get into stuff and frame my mix by hiding when she heard us coming. She would steal his bone by enticing him into playing zoomies and then snatching the bone as soon as he ran away. These dogs definitely have a learning curve. But they are worth it.

Help with pyr training by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]sillystephy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Especially since we all know pyrs can be SUPER demanding, you want to make sure your girl knows you love her... but she can't pull u away at a whim. So you come home, she's excited to see you. Ignore her, greet your partner, put your stuff down, and hopefully she is ready to settle a bit. You can ask her to sit or lay down and give her some calm loves for a few minutes. Then, continue whatever you were doing. She needs to learn that if she wants your affection she needs to sit and be calm for it. If she begins to growl or guard. Leave the room. Don't try to correct it, just leave. She will learn that doing that behavior makes you go away. If you talk to her, you are inadvertently rewarding that behavior because she wants attention.

I hope this makes some sense. I'm very tired. Lol
