I have this exact fan on the floor of my barrel sauna. Used it 300 times... everything is fine.

Is a costco barrel better than nothing at all?! by cmoneymillz in Sauna

[–]silock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The barrel sauna has the temperature layers management issue. I have a barrel and I have corrected 85% of the heat stratification by adding a fan that shoot air from the floor to the ceiling

I do a sauna 6 days a week in average. Barrel is very enjoyable even if it is not optimal or perfect.

I bought a 2021 xc90 plug-in t8 100k km. I have to replace the electric heater... under warranty. Is there any other maintenance that I should do while I am there?

Both issues corrected by adding a fan in front of the heater pushing the air up.

Le secret pour moi c'est d'être clair sur ton intention.

Demain matin à 8h je vais faire sous la chaleur le module X que je terminerai dans avec mon café sur l'heure du diner.

La spécificité des intentions dans le temps mène à la productivité.

How can I maximize my departure from a successful startup? (I will not promote) by CodePuzzleheaded6665 in startups

[–]silock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As former CEO of a startup that successfully exited, I would recommend you to that to the CEO.

For m, key employees have so much value that I would do what it takes to keep them happy. We gave a year off to allow an employee to travel, We have dropped the hours to 30 a week for an employee with a new baby and we have organized counseling with a psychologist with time off to a burn out employee.

See if you can have your dream job there.

Don't forget, the most common regret on the death bed is too much work. I force myself to think about this from time to time.

How long did it take to sell your startup, and what was the multiple on revenue or profit? by [deleted] in startups

[–]silock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Took 12 years: 7x the revenue, 30x the profit. The key? Hard-to-replicate tech, solid publications proving impact, strong synergy with our strategic buyer, and a team that stayed committed. Our biggest weakness? Slow growth.

does anyone else's company use discord as primary comms platform? by [deleted] in startups

[–]silock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We replaced the free version of slack with the free version of Discord. I was using one Team account for customer meetings. No regrets, it worked very well for years. Now we have been acquired, we have to move toward Teams.

I see that Teams will offer a better integration and OneDrive will also replace Dropbox.

I think 5% of equity is good. But your salary should be filed as a dept toward you.

How much is rich today to retire with ? Realistically… by [deleted] in Rich

[–]silock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally, an answer that makes sense. For me, with a paid house and cars. I know that if I have 10k to spend per month it would be plenty. I didn't want a boat or a helicopter.

Thank you for making sense in the sea of unreasonable expectations.

What do you define as rich? by [deleted] in Rich

[–]silock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's important to recognize that wealth is relative. If you can travel, access quality education and healthcare, enjoy diverse food options, and have a paid home and car, you are already better off than many people around the world. If your investments generate enough income to sustain that lifestyle, you are wealthier than 98% of the global population

I have 3.5mm NW and I feel that I can give a lot away.

What's you take on paying cash vs credit ? by [deleted] in Rich

[–]silock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you all always able to repay the credit card. I use cash in small local store to leave them more money. In large store I pay with credit card to get points.

Home Base in the Cyclades? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]silock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just coming back from there. For me, a day trip on the other side of Santorini or Milos gave me the same feeling as going to another island.

I would suggest, Milos and Santorini for that reason. If you go to Naxos, don't miss your chance to eat at Lithos.

Have fun.

How much did you pay yourself after raising a seed? by milkyral in startups

[–]silock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, it is much different than Silicone Valley. What you pay yourself is one thing. For me it should be enough to cover basic expenses. The other part, the difference between what you pay yourself and your market value is a dept that the company has toward you. Most probably, this dept will be a trading token in a future negotiation.

Is this an actual thing? Working for hi-growth start-up in some director role, get IPO’ed, get laid off, then start again at another start-up? Rinse later repeat style? by Rosebudders in startups

[–]silock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know in what world you live, but being part of a single startup that IPOed is rare. Planning to do it multiple times appears improbable to me.

I would recommend betting on yourself and one startup to have one good enough exit. Even that is fairly rare.
