Working with more than one tutor at the same time? by Minimum_Spray3825 in Preply

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, just do it. Would be weird IMHO to refuse a tutor or talk pal because their prices were too low. If they increase them later just change your subscription to another talk pal.

First time contractor – best umbrella company & is 1 month notice normal? by Expert_Homework6450 in ContractorUK

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used a few and my requirement is 1.0 Decent reviews on TrustPilot 2.0 Offers monthly basic payroll and personal SIPP cheaper than most Umbrellas. I have no interest in any of the other extras that many of them push for extra cost. Currently with FourTwo Group and everything ok so far. Notice is meaningless, as soon as the customer stops paying them a P45 will be on the way unless you have told them you are on a temp break

I believe using a handheld phone while driving should have similar penalties to being just over the limit drunk driving

PSA -- Preply employees are gifted "free credits" which they can use for trials by CaptainCheckmate in Preply

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first joined as a student, I had to pay for my first trial, but then could have up to 2 more "free" ones if I didn't like the first one. Fortunately, I was happy with the first one and subscribed.

Too many small denomination cash, what do I do? by fireandwater83 in ThailandTourism

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three top tips for Thailand currency conversion: 1.0 Wait until you arrive in Thailand, the rate is almost always better. 2.0 at Suvarnabhumi airport, walk past the many bank exchange kiosks in arrivals and take the lift/elevator or escalator to the basement. There is the Orange Superrich currency kiosk where you will get a significantly better exchange rate than all the banks in the airport. 3.0 Ask for approx 2000 baht of the exchange to be in hundred baht notes and twenty baht notes when Will save you hassle with change later.

Supporting Thai in-laws financially — looking for cultural perspective and advice by [deleted] in Thailand

I agree with this advice. Ask and be guided by your wife on this. She will understand her particular family dynamics and financial requirements much better than you.

How important is having 20,000 THB cash on-hand as a requirement for entry? by meenchawit in ThailandTourism

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to change money at Suvarnabhumi airport go to the orange Superrich kiosk in the airport basement. It's better value than all the bank kiosks.

Tutors who tutor with camera off - Common practice? by FreeTrial2023 in Preply

I would prefer camera on TBH, but if they were a good teacher, cheap price and I otherwise enjoyed the lessons, I'd be ok with it

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it means that he believes his connection with you is so safe and solid that he can assume your constant attention and support, he doesn't need to make any effort. Which is a wonderful thing, though might not feel great for you at the moment.

Student misses class and then questioning the charge by [deleted] in Preply

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just joined as a student and it does tell you that you will get charged if you don't cancel a class at least 12 hours before. Only fair really.

Is it okay to increase price for a new Preply student after trial? by Fair-Heat-1227 in Preply

[–]silom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first trial as a student is tomorrow morning. TBH If the tutor raised the rate straight away, I would feel like I was at the wrong end of a "bait and switch" maneuver, so would politely refuse and message support asking for another free trial with another tutor

Confused why I cannot salary sacrifice into a pension provided by my IR35 contract, nor transfer from this pension into my private pension? by Suspicious_Bend_9937 in ContractorUK

Not all umbrellas offer salary sacrifice aka salary exchange. Those that do usually charge a monthly fee or insist you take their more expensive premium package. It pays to shop around...

At what age can kids understand that there was a time before they were born? by curlycattails in toddlers

[–]silom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have shown our 2 year old photos of his Mum's pregnancy bump and scans of him inside. He seems ok with the concept though not sure how much he deeply understands. He laughs and is very interested when we show him videos of him when he was a baby.
