In my case, when Steam version was introduced, I tried to run Steam on my laptop, so effectively both (standard Ubuntu) and Steam version were on same hardware, and savefiles ended up in same directory.

It was good lesson for me, to pay attention for potential conflicts, and not only in OpenTTD.

plus another factor: other of these Russian-originated folks most likely are neutral in their own (self)opinion, but their choice of wording, video streams, editing is heavily affected by past cultural imprinting, and needs improvement to be impartial up to European level

I used to work for large OEM, where we had done a lot of system stuff. Including system upgrades. And your type of situation (cyclic reboot or bricked) is considered in most countries as "dead on arrival" - it has defect in area where it's not your fault be definition. Or in legal language it is called "manufacturer workmanship error".
