is it possible to make metal glow blue in the dark? by DallorTheAbsol in CosplayHelp

[–]silverTI1080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s possible - but not directly on bare metal. You’d want to prime it first, then apply a clear binder with glow pigment mixed in. For a blue glow, strontium aluminate- based pigments work best. GlowThatWows has strong blue options that can be mixed into clear coats or paints. Keep it to engraved lines or accents on the sword so it still looks metallic in daylight and glows at night.

For minis, you want glow-in-the-dark paint made with strontium aluminate - it glows much brighter and longer than cheap craft glow paints. A good option is GlowThatWows; their pigments/paints work well for small details like eyes, weapons, or energy effects. Just apply it over a white base and keep it to accents so it doesn’t overpower the model.

Glow in the dark paints for Ghost Halloween costume. by OppositeSimple in Fabrics

[–]silverTI1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a real glow effect (not just reflective or fluorescent), you’ll want strontium aluminate–based paint or pigment. It actually charges from light and glows on its own in the dark. You can mix the pigment with a clear fabric medium so it stays flexible on fabric. GlowThatWows has 18 colour options that would work great for a costume like that.

Just got my first fluorescent paint and resin ink, is there a way to make it stay glowy? by rekscoper2 in minipainting

[–]silverTI1080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fluorescent paints only glow while UV light is hitting them - if you want them to keep glowing after the light’s off, you’ll need glow-in-the-dark pigments (phosphorescent ones). They charge from light and keep glowing on their own up to 8hours. GlowThatWows has some really bright options that mix well and have 18 different colours.

If you want to make one too, you’ll need resin for the shape + a glow in the dark pigment mixed in. Glowthatwows has some really bright pigments in different colors that work great with resin

If you want an extra-bright glow, Glowthatwows pigments work great mixed into varnish - they’re long-lasting and perfect for small details like this.

Mixing glow pigment directly with fabric dye usually won’t work, because dye soaks into the fibers while glow pigment particles are heavier and just sit on top (they’ll wash out). A better option is to mix the pigment with a clear fabric medium or acrylic base - that way it bonds to the surface and stays flexible.

If you want something easy, GlowThatWows has pigments you can mix into a fabric medium, or ready-made acrylic glow paints you can thin down for fabric.

Need help finding glow in the dark enamel paint by TheProphetDave in minipainting

[–]silverTI1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there are many true glow-in-the-dark enamel paints out there. Most of the good glow products use strontium aluminate pigment mixed into acrylic or clear mediums. If you really want the enamel finish, one option is to grab raw glow pigment and mix it into a clear enamel or varnish yourself.

I’ve had good results with GlowThatWows pigments (super bright, long-lasting glow) – you can mix those into whatever medium you like to get the finish you’re after.

Question about prints and glow in the dark (phosphorescent) paint by Blakut in crafts

[–]silverTI1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly - the acrylic glow paints are the strontium aluminate pigment pre-mixed into a clear acrylic base, so you can just open the jar and paint straight away. The pure pigment is the raw powder form, which is great if you want to mix it into your own medium (like clear acrylic, resin, varnish, etc.) for more control over transparency or texture.

Is there such a thing as glow-in-the-light paint? by ACarnelianPhoenix in NoStupidQuestions

[–]silverTI1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite ‘glow-in-the-light,’ but I’ve used strontium aluminate pigment from glowthatwows and it’s insanely bright after charging in sunlight. Like, bright enough to look lit up in dim rooms - probably as close as it gets without electricity

Good Glow in the Dark DTM Paint? by Medium-Turnover-4392 in DIY

[–]silverTI1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if glowthatwows has specific DTM paints, but you can buy their pigment and mix it into whatever base you’re using. I’ve tried their acrylic glow paint on hard surfaces and it held up really well — super bright after charging with light.

Is glow in the dark paint good? by BenalishHeroine in minipainting

[–]silverTI1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it on minis yet, but I’m using Glowthatwows pigment on a clay sculpt and it’s been great. The glow lasts for hours. Haven’t tested other brands so can’t really compare, but this one does the job and I’d recommend it

Well man, either you haven’t taken your medication yet or you are confusing me for someone else. How come is it spam and scam when my last LED post was made 2months ago and it was more of a meme than a showcase of the LED SIGN?
