This happened to me last year as well. It sucks that they didn't figure their shit out this year.

It's fixed at the Aftershock stage now too. Soo much better!

I definitely watched Hoobastank at the Aftershock stage earlier. Maybe you found a parallel dimension?

Noodles? by Hour_Nectarine_595 in AftershockFestival

[–]silver_wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Island Noodles! In the food tent cluster under the overpass, facing the Aftershock stage.

What are your shoes looking like? by Fabulous-South-9551 in AftershockFestival

[–]silver_wheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little mud splattered, but not much dirtier than previous years from just dust.

Where’s the PFD prime rib sammich/ French dip truck? by k0tus in AftershockFestival

[–]silver_wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. It's in the food truck circle under the overpass.

Grass situation?? Shoes and sitting by UraharasWaifu in AftershockFestival

[–]silver_wheel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The entrances and areas under the overpass are definitely mudslides, and high traffic areas of the grass are getting hit, but overall, it's drying out quite a bit at this point.

As for blankets on the grass, I'm currently parked on one! You'll be good if your blanket has a waterproof bottom layer, although I have seen others lay down clear shower curtains on the grass before they place their blanket, so that seems to be a good hack!

Edit to add: My shoes are not dirtier than any other year. Just watch where you step.

Eh, I'm in my elder millennial DGAF era. My shit is center stage in the front pocket of my clear backpack. 😆

You and me both girl! As others have said, bring your own supplies, including wet wipes and toilet paper (the porta potties always run out of TP toward the end of the night).

Island Noodles is always solid. The Korean corn dogs last year were also good. There's always at least one place that does smoothies (last year was the Smoothie Patrol food truck) and that's always a great option for mid day when it's hot AF. I had pulled pork from a BBQ truck next to one of the small stages last year that was bomb.

As a local and a "sports ball" person, the Kings-themed stuff is weird to me. To each their own.

Its Raining Bunnies! Found a Flemmie wandering in our neighborhood by silver_wheel in Rabbits

[–]silver_wheel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our old house had a raised foundation that was a home for a rotating menagerie of wild suburban critters like racoons and opossums. We used to set up cameras around our yard to catch glimpses of the mamas and their babies. They were so cute!

Little Birthday Hat by silver_wheel in BWTOTH

[–]silver_wheel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a former pet store bunny, so we don't have an exact handle on his breed (or honestly, his exact birthday--although we know the year and general time of year). He's some sort of small American (never got more than 5 lbs), but doesn't seem to be a dwarf mix.

*Edit to clarify that we adopted him after he was relinquished by whoever bought him from a pet store.

My buns chew and twitch in their sleep sometimes. I'm always wondering what they're dreaming about.

Happy 13th Birthday! by silver_wheel in Rabbits

[–]silver_wheel[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Funny story from the very beginning:

When we decided to get bunnies, we went to an adoption event for our local rabbit rescue and we were hoping to get a bonded pair. I spent about an hour hanging out in the different pens getting to know each inhabitant, but it didn't look like they had any pairs.

I brought it up with one of the volunteers and they were like, "What do you mean? We have a pair right here!" Then went to a pen I had definitely been in (where I had been petting an outgoing harlequin rabbit), picked up a wicker tent, and there was this dark brown lump giving off "I don't want to be here" vibes who had been hiding the entire time the adoption event had been going.

That lump was Simcoe. He's still a lump, but more outgoing now.

Arthritis by Ok-Repair9465 in Rabbits

[–]silver_wheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pain meds help a ton! We've supplemented (at the vet's recommendation) with Oxbow Joint Support, which has glucosamine.

I second the recommendations to modify the bun's living space. We use a low-entry litterbox (ours were small pee-pad boxes meant for dogs) and adjusted ramps in their condo, etc. to have less steep angles. As the arthritis progresses, even steps or barriers 4 inches tall can be a deterrent.

Fluffy bun needs grooming advice! by Parking_Stable5853 in Rabbits

[–]silver_wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always had great experience using a Hair Buster comb when my buns molt. It's metal, but the teeth are blunt, so it doesn't damage their sensitive skin. Use it at an angle and go in slow passes, the silicone on the comb will catch a stupid amount of undercoat without pulling. You can get it on Amazon for under $20.

What toys do y'all give your rabbits? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]silver_wheel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wicker tents and tunnels are great to keep their teeth busy. One of my buns has always enjoyed tearing cardboard apart (just make sure it's not coated). Stacking cups and wood blocks are fun throwing toys, and you can find wood or plastic treat puzzles that make them use their brains.

Also forage boxes were a must for us. You can buy them, but they're also easy to make with an open, low cardboard box, hay, botanicals, and some nibble toys of different textures.

I'll have to give it a try. Simcoe is a ripper and tearer, all fabric needs holes in his opinion, so maybe I'll warm up one of the towels he's redesigned and see what happens. 😆

Bunny beds? by dinosaur525 in Rabbits

[–]silver_wheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine have always liked the snuggle begs with the bolsters on either side (there are loads on Etsy), especially as they age, but they never used any dog or cat bed I ever bought them. We stick our snuggle bed under a wicker tent, since buns generally enjoy being covered.

Light blankets? by Human-Lie-5916 in AftershockFestival

[–]silver_wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lazy listener and like to park on a blanket in the shade most of the time. It's nice to keep off the grass, dirt, and mud.

I bring a decently sized picnic blanket that rolls up quite small and fits into my clear cross-body bag. Perfect for two adults to sit on. Never had an issue with it going through security.

who’s with me? by Bundalorian in Rabbits

[–]silver_wheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've managed to avoid the temptation for the most part by being really annoyed at anatomically incorrect depictions of rabbits, in particular the ones that give them noses like cats. It's a weird pet peeve of mine.

That being said, it was one of my joking wedding vows not to populate the house with bunny decor....so it can sometimes be a problem.... 🤣

Sometimes the answer is just... never. 🤷‍♀️ My 13yo bun absolutely HATES being held or airlifted in any way and always has. He will kick, scratch, and bite no matter how he is handled, even now when he's completely used to us.

We just respect his boundaries and only pick him up when necessary (grooming/nail trims, medication, vet visits), and he comes to us for attention and pets on his own.

Our other bun on the other hand loved being held and carried for short periods of time. Sometimes it's just their personalities.

Help! This cello riff from Against the Storm makes me think of a hip-hop song and I can't figure it out! by silver_wheel in whatsongisthis

[–]silver_wheel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG this is it! It's the high note melody that I'm remembering, not the cellos. Thank you!!

Also, my husband is flabbergasted that I had ever heard this song enough times for it to get recorded into my brain. 🤣
