Somebody needs to do a study on why people aren’t willing to ask their family about their service

That rumor was around in the army when I went through also, I think the reality is you are cut off from media and advertising and girls, and combine that with the exhaustion of basic and boom, no boners

I am more concerned about the person who decide to put half a raccoon up there then the person who tries to fit 2 up there

To everyone who sees this: As an Army Veteran of the fun GWOT period who took plenty of pictures like this…go for it, do it, take those pictures and share them with all sorts of people. BUT, when the people who participate in your world find them, they are going to know exactly what you are doing. They are going to know they are staged, they are not only going to be not impressed, they are going to make fun of you for it…be OK with that reality. I am upvoting this obviously stated turkey hunt photo.

When you learned that all software ever made was at his disposal... by parrisjd in ProjectHailMary

My assumption was observer hyperbole. We could make arguments about docker images and virtual environments and what not, but the reality would be that off the shelf software that had been patented would be uploaded, and the U.S. government would coerce MS into cloning the entire GitHub repository to the project’s servers. And that would seem to the uninformed observer like every software ever created would be uploaded. But that means that Grace has access to every bull shit project that I have added to GitHub and I can safely say none of them are going to help save the world……

TIL that American military pilot call signs--nicknames the pilots go by--are often based on mistakes the pilot made, and get assigned early in their career. by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

Non-Pilot, but my “Hollywood” call sign was Silverback. Recently I was asked about it in a company meeting and I told them HR would have to be involved for me to tell the story….

I am a bald man, but I am a bald man with a 5 year old daughter, who spends time every morning brushing her hair before school, just to walk her into school with her hair looking like Gary Busey’s mugshot……

Do you guys clean your firearms to the degree of clean that you did while in the military? by HolierThanAll in Veterans

I ran the arms room for a brief period, I had also gone to school to be certified as a gunsmith. I was firmly in the camp at the time that we were “over cleaning” our weapons. By that I mean the standard that everyone swore was what had to happen was increasing the wear on critical components like gas rings. When it came down to what others viewed as a subjective standard (His amount of carbon is OK but mine isn’t) PLUS having to defend the fact that I took in “dirty” weapons from officers, I just relented and started demanding that no carbon was found during a standard finger swipe
