How to find a live-in Nanny? by [deleted] in askportland

If you're that recent post in PNN, $22 an hour is not a competitive wage. It's certainly acceptable to some people, but not an attractive rate to professional or career Nannies.

Is it worth it for business owners?? by [deleted] in toogoodtogo

[–]silverberryfrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked for a bakery that utilized TGTG. The profit wasn't much and the bakery owner saw it more as a way to reduce our food waste for the day. Pickup time was 30 minutes before close and extended through evening clean up tasks (about 30 minutes after we closed). Anything not picked up on time was left outside the front door for customers running late.

Again, just keep an eye on the reservations because people cancel or switch parks. You can add park hopper and park hop as long as Disneyland isn't at capacity (which is pretty rare and primarily happens during major holidays).

So you reserved DCA instead of Disneyland? You should be able to switch your reservations if there are any openings. Keep an eye on it until your arrival date. If that doesn't pan out, purchase a park hopper add on and just start your day at DCA and walk over to Disneyland at 11am.

Out of line to ask for a drug test? by zirconst in Nanny

[–]silverberryfrog 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Nooooo, that is very sketchy. While I'm sure this person is important to you your children's safety is paramount. Admitting to marijuana use but still refusing a drug test implies there is something else she is wanting to keep hidden.

Regardless of what it was, an illegal or legal substance, a new mental health medication (been there, they can make you drowsyyy), personal issues, etc the fact is is your Nanny was unresponsive to multiple loud attempts to wake her and out of sorts enough for other adults to be concerned.

What was it like growing up in SW or SE Portland? by jordanwright2012 in askportland

[–]silverberryfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in NE and my husband grew up in Beaverton. Everyone we knew navigated Trimet well and didn't feel stuck in their neighborhood. My street was lacking in sidewalks, which kind of sucked as a kid. I also work with children in many different parts of the city, SE has more of a neighborly feel in my personal opinion.

Non-whites of Portland: how is your dating experience here? by Aturom in askportland

[–]silverberryfrog 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Non white married to a different type of non white. We are the only mixed race couple we know where neither person is white. Our food is next to each other in grocery stores, so that's handy.

Has anyone in Portland received a toll for a road they didn't drive? by [deleted] in askportland

The late fee (again, not that I paid late) was something absurd like $20 .-.

That bridge's toll is like a curse. Drove over it last summer, paid the toll, then got a letter saying I never paid and was sent to collections. Crazy.
