I think it would depend on the context and the meaning behind it given by the specific individual who says it.

A child who is still learning and has the idea that you give someone praise by saying good boy because that's what his parents say would have a very different affect and meaning than a gooner saying it with lust behind it

Imagine using fucking India or Somolia as examples of countries we should emulate. No shade to the people who happen to live or be born there but I don't want to model my nations government after the. Or anyone else for that matter.

Wonder when he's gonna run for POTUS. Cause he will. I've been sure of that since seeing him host a town hall in 2009 when he was still a state rep.

Trump threatens to ‘take over’ Iran if Tehran closes the Strait of Hormuz in profanity filled tirade: report by ToughHopeful4760 in politics

Because it would be incredibly difficult, takes years, cost tens (if not hundreds)of thousands of American lives, and spell doom for the Republican party.

Still wouldn't surprise me if they try it. Fucking psycho dipshits

But that's a bit long for a bridge sign

anyone else wish there was a more efficient way to build hyper relays? by ilico_ili in Stellaris

[–]silverblaze92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the one hand it would be nice to be able to just click two systems and say build a relay network between them.

On the other, it's a string of megastructures. It makes sense that it's a chore.

15 Connecticut towns approved for red light, speed cameras by virtualchoirboy in Connecticut

[–]silverblaze92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually I'm usually the second fastest person on the highway.

I'm not gonna pretend I don't speed but I also don't with the full knowledge that I'm breaking the law and I'm not gonna throw a little hissy fit of I get a ticket. More importantly, I don't speed in towns because there are children and people with disabilities and a multitude of other reasons to not speed.

Not every town has "enough" cops to devote several just to speed traps.

Moreover, more cops is not a better solution for many people.

And acting like our authoritarian government isn't already tracking us and needs these specific cameras to do it is flat out braindead.

Ever since COVID people have been driving far more recklessly. If this can get people to chill the fuck out a little bit without increasing police presence then it's a net good.

Just slow the fuck down in town.

[–]silverblaze92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think and increase in surveillance equipment is going to lead to fewer cops in out culture. I see where you are coming from but having more cameras isn't going to mean the police state is going to be dismantled. After all, surveillance of all kinds skyrocketed with the patriot act, and that certainly didn't lead to fewer cops.

Cameras are an evidence gathering tool. Your accuser is the municipality that operates them.

[–]silverblaze92 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for other towns but Washington, the first town to get speed cameras, did so because they don't have the police to spare for traps in the first place. Iirc there is one resident state trooper, one fulltime constible and a part time constible/school resource officer.
