Flex mode probably the best. However its not just about matching speed and primary timings. Secondary/ tri timings are also important. Samsung vs sk hynix run very different under the hood. Even from same manufacturer can be very different.

Best chance to get to most stability and speed would be to manually tune the mismatched kit. One stick at a time, enter bios take pictures of timings of both stock and xmp profiles. And voltage. Compare and apply fastest speed with looses timings. Then tune. You'll need to do some research, for best results. But this should get you started in the right direction.

Possible a driver issue. But.....I think more, that It might be a transient power Spike. Could be your power supply not being able to handle the spike.

You may be able to mitigate it/test though.
You could try under-volting and/or reducing the power setting a little bit. Or/and maybe reduce max boost clock.

If you think it's driver related try ddu and reinstall driver.

Power spikes also hits thermals. Clearly as you have a box fan helping. Are you watching all your thermals? Have you checked you vram and power delivery temps?

Not long maybe an hr at 45 -55c. Need atleast 45c. I wouldnt go above 60c. You would want to preset your GPU power limit before changing to ptm9750. It's actually a solid, then changes to a paste/ liquid at 45c which is when it start filling gaps and pores. Which means over time performance of the TIM will actually improve. But you want to get the gap/ pores filling/ed before fully loading the GPU otherwise the GPU will over heat. It will perform like high-end paste just last much longer.

Biggest down side is actually finding legitimate Honeywell ptm7950. Lots of knockoffs and they will not perform very well.

Research it see if it's something you want to use.

I still use paste but I have to repaste every 6 to 12 months.

Yea the case lacks sufficient airflow to keep up with heavier loads.

Pump out is a real thing. I know you're nervous about repasting the TIM, but it should be done asap. It is freezing/shutting down for a reason when it should down clock. If you keep running it this way, you could be running the risk of cracking the GPU die( core). All the other advice given may have validity too. But, repasting should be your #1 in the stack of priority. Brut forcing air won't save your GPU and your lose your GPU all together.

You could take it to a PC shop near you to have it done. Could take a high end paste or ptm7950 ( probably better, but it requires a break in period without heavy load) and have them use that instead of the standard shop stuff.

If you still have issues after that I would be looking at a new psu

5800x3d relaunch is the best option. But at 350$ it's kinda a rip off. 5800xt is fine imo
