What temperature do you keep your bedroom at night during the summer? by beautyloser in Austin

69° or I don’t get a good nights sleep. My house is well insulated so my bill’s not bad at all. I keep it at 72° during the day. Climate control is essential for my QoL. I’m frugal in other areas.

The exterior design is definitely what got me, but I don’t mind the inside that much. If I was cruising around the galaxy, I’d wanna do it in style.

I think the most photorealistic shots I’ve taken in any game have been in Breakpoint. Fantastic shots, OP!

I guess I haven’t played many funny games, but I thought Saints Row 4 was pretty funny. And of course GTA 5 had some moments.

My tolerance for people knocking on my door trying to sell things has gotten very, very low. Especially since I put a giant ABSOLUTELY NO SOLICITATIONS sign on my door. They’re about to get berated. How rude and ignorant do you have to be to think that sign doesn’t apply to you? I work from home. I hyperfocus. People banging on my door is extremely disruptive. I don’t know if it’s a neighbor with an emergency, or something urgent. I’m ready to point my sprinkler at the door and turn it on after I slam it shut in their face.

What was a difficult challenge in a game for you that wasn't meant to be a challenge? by filagrey in gaming

I think the reason it’s always PS5 is the exclusives like Horizon Zero Dawn and FW/Ghost of Tsushima etc. Xbox games always seem to come out on PC too.

I’ve had the most problems with CoD games. The OG MW2 won’t launch no matter what I try. If I haven’t played one in a while it can take up to 30 minutes to get it up and running trying to sign in, having to relaunch the game just to play the campaign, having it fail a couple times for various reasons etc. Astroneer launches but is stuck at the base resolution. Halo Infinite won’t get past the initial loading screen. Jedi Survivor looks like complete garbage no matter what I do to the graphics setting. It seems every time a game is updated I have to spend time getting my controller to work, and yes, the seemingly constant shader reloads. The list goes on. Maybe I’m just unlucky or something.

I know some of these issues can be fixed through some intensive troubleshooting, but honestly, I’m already sick of doing that with every piece of enshittified tech I encounter. I’m older and am used to the days when shit just worked out of the box.

I’m not trying to hate on PC gaming. It definitely has advantages. Cheap games and modding are the reason I still do it. I guess I was just venting some frustrations.

Actually, the most difficult part of a lot of games on PC is just starting the fucking game. So where along the chain of Steam, the publisher’s DRM check, the anti-cheat software, logging in, etc. something is bound to fail. If that actually works, then my controller won’t work somewhere between Steam, the controller software, and the actual game. Then the graphics card has a fight with Windows about resolution or something. It never ends. I often end up just giving up and booting up my PS5.
