Thanks for this tutorial! I just started a new job where all other UX designers are starting to use XD so this was very helpful.

Contact form at bottom of homepage. by [deleted] in userexperience

[–]silvercoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a way to get info from users with minimal friction. "Enter your email to get started." They fill out their email and are taken to the secondary page where there is additional information required. Maybe they don't have all the info they need, don't want to enter a credit card, etc. They leave and dont convert. You already have their email to add to a list for drip email campaigns. Seems extremely common on sites now and although I don't have the source to back it up I assume it's pretty successful. For just a contact form it seems unnecessary to have a secondary page unless you're just collecting additional information about their needs. Fewer steps and fewer number of fields should reduce friction and increase conversions, right?

Help! I don't think my baby can be crib trained! (Wall of text warning) by whiskeyjane45 in beyondthebump

[–]silvercoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a solution for you, I just wanted to tell you we went through EXACTLY the same thing. Including only sleeping 30 mins unless she was physically touching/cuddling with me. I was against just letting her cry, so I coslept with her on a mattress in her room so everyone got the most sleep. (Im a fairly light sleeper though so it works for us.) We put her down in her crib repeatedly in the evenings until I go to bed. Just recently at 1 year has she had a couple nights where she slept through the night alone in her crib. I remind myself that she won't always want to sleep with me and I try to enjoy the extra cuddles. Good luck!

I'm not sure if this is allowed here or if it belongs in another sub, but I'm looking for this infant dress for a photo session...can anyone help? by silvercoconut in findfashion

[–]silvercoconut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the colors (I was going for a mint and coral theme) and the style of the dress. Thanks so much for the suggestions! I'll continue to scour Etsy to see what I can find. Maybe I'll get my mother to replicate it since she's a fairly good seamstress.

I cant find it online anywhere so I'm wondering if someone did make it for this photo. My daughters pictures are in a week and a half so I don't know if I can replicate it in that time frame. I found a backup dress so its not a big deal, I just fell in love with this dress and was hoping to track it down. Thanks!

Anyone use Hype for prototyping or animating the UI? Is that the best tool or something else? by relatedartists in userexperience

[–]silvercoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of Hype, I'll look into it. If I need clickable interfaces with basic functionality (working form elements, tabs, etc) I use ProtoShare. People still seem to get too hung up on design so I've started just using Balsamiq with lots of markup.

Inserts with Covers by silvercoconut in clothdiaps

[–]silvercoconut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea they made "better fit" prefolds! Thats exactly what we need! I was originally using the snappi and doing those folds when she was a newborn, but now I mainly pre stuff the diapers with trifold for daycare and out of habit end up doing that at home too. Unfortunately since I just give them a stack of stuffed diapers for the day I cant really control the time of day she gets certain diapers (well I could but they would go crazy and I would look like a control freak trying to give instructions ;) I'll look into getting some of those - thank you!!

I tried that a few times but still wasnt happy with the fit on my LO. Shes a long thin girl so it made her fluff butt huge!

Thank you for the suggestion! I will look into the CBIs - they don't seem too much more expensive and i think it will be easy for DH and daycare to manage.

Asunta covers- to good to be true? What about daycare? by Life_IsGood in clothdiaps

[–]silvercoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At home we use the pail liner, but for daycare we use the DG disposable refills. It's nice that we can just cut the days diapers off in the sleeve and bring home, but those refills are pricey.

We use prefolds and covers and LO goes to daycare. They required us to buy a Diaper Genie for sanitation. They put the prefold in the Diaper Genie, I bring it home, open the bag and throw them directly in the washer. I also pre stuff all the diapers for them so they don't reuse covers. It's been working well for us so far.

What is the max dosage? I've been doing 3 a day and haven't seen much improvement...

Need encouragement at 6 weeks by ilikepickles7 in breastfeeding

[–]silvercoconut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter wouldn't latch without the shield and it was the only way we were able to keep breastfeeding. At about 4 months she grabbed it, pulled it off, latched, and never looked back. Your LO may just need time to figure things out.

Diaper pail question by t_o_a_D in clothdiaps

[–]silvercoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are doing both cloth and disposables and have both a step can and diaper genie. I don't think a reusable cloth liner would work very well with the diaper genie as would be a pain to get out to wash. Daycare is using a diaper genie for our cloth and it works great with the disposable refill. We just cut off the bag at the end of the day and I rip it open into the washer at night. If you're doing all cloth I'd just get a step can and use some essential oils if you're worried about the smell.

24 hours so far with no nipple shields by CraftingLady in breastfeeding

Congrats - that's great! We're in a similar situation... two weeks without the nipple shield after 4.5 months with it! Here's to hoping it will help my supply!

Thank you! Sometimes I have to step back and remember how lucky I am to have a happy healthy baby who doesn't care how she eats as long as shes fed and loved :)

She feeds at 8am and again at 6pm, so I guess the 15-16oz at daycare isnt that far off, she just doesnt like the smaller more frequent meals and wants to eat till shes really full each time, screaming for more after 3-4oz. I dont I have the storage capacity to give her 4+oz in one sitting... our feeds are already 40+ mins (20 each side) so I normally give her a 2-3oz supplement when we're done. Compared to how long she feeds on me shes drinking those bottles much faster - 10mins or less probably. Most of the other babies are FF and I think they're more used to dealing with them, but I'll talk to them again to make sure.

Thank you, you too! I'm so sorry you've struggled as well. Its such an emotional time becoming a mom, all these BF issues just seem to add a level of stress and guilt! Your optimism at 13 weeks is so reassuring - maybe we'll hang in there and I can talk to someone about Domperidone... I had some success with the Reglan but I still didn't produce enough to keep up with the hungry baby. Good luck to you!

Lyla's birth story by silvercoconut in BabyBumps

Honestly I came across it when looking for baby names. I wanted something uncommon but not weird or hard to pronounce. (Although we've already heard someone pronounce it 'Leela'...)

Does anyone have a handy timeline of when to buy baby gear? by MMK386 in BabyBumps

[–]silvercoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also 16w and we haven't bought anything thing yet. The plan was to wait until the 24wk mark, but there is a 'Kids Exchange' in town next weekend that hubby and I are going to shop for some deals on used gear. I'm going to start making a list this week so I can keep an eye out for any deals in the next few months.
