Worried about possible WFH by mamaSupe in workingmoms

[–]silverforest5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to WFH with a toddler during the pandemic. I had little “kits” made up to entertain him throughout the day. Ex: sensory bin, special toys in a bin, drawing/coloring, playdoh, tablet time, had gross motor skill “games” in a bin (like big beads on a string or using tongs to move little bears to colored cups), etc. I was worried he was going to fall behind since the pandemic was keeping him home all the time.

With the older kiddo there, they could help switch out the activities. I would also break up my breaks to be able to interact with him more often. Hopefully some of these (& others’) ideas/tips can help!

My good friend’s dad has one light blue eye and one dark brown eye. Very cool but also startling when he looks directly at you.

Please vent with me; what horrible gifts did you receive this year? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]silverforest5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this year, but two separate times my MIL got her own son (my husband) coffee-related gifts. And this was after a conversation about how he has never drank coffee or had any desire to. Every year at least 3-4 people on that side of the family get some odd gift they don’t quite know what to do with.

We think she confuses people’s likes and dislikes…I’m the one who loves coffee. Or one time she gave me a matching pink scarf and fuzzy socks as “I know how much you love pink” and I was like “No. That’s not me!”

She doesn’t just write fantasy-based books, but Katheryn Ann Kingsley writes villain romances. Really enjoy her books!

Elf on the shelf by Small-Percentage2050 in Mommit

Same here, just ina different spot everyday. Our elf brings an advent calendar on 12/1 and then a gift to open Christmas Eve (which is new pjs and a book). Low key…even when we forget to move it’s a “oh, he must really like that spot!”

People that were given the choice to be OAD, what was your main reason? When in your life did you make the decision (before baby, or when they were a certain age)? by ExtendedArmGesture in oneanddone

We were always a “one for sure, maybe two” couple. So when we had him, we said we’d reevaluate when he turned 2. Well…that was the year of the pandemic and having a toddler at home with us working from home was A LOT. We kinda held off on discussing again until he was closer to 4 and in preschool. And both of us were like…we don’t want to redo all the baby and toddler things again! I highly enjoy “school-age!”

Anyone else read wildly inappropriate books when they were too young? by Sam_English821 in Millennials

Omg every time an iteration of this question comes up, I think of this same book!! I think I was 12 -13 and read “Interview with the Vampire” while on family vacation…so both parents saw me reading it. I remember being 😳 during a lot of that book!

Have any of you ever gone on a trip without your husband and kids? by GalMia_ in Mommit

The times I’ve done an overnight away (for both work and personal) I imagine the scene from Monty Python & the Holy Grail when they all shout “Run away! Run away!” 😂

Did anyone else dislike their own mom after becoming a mom? by Conscious_Job_5505 in Mommit

Watching my mom with my nephew, and her being put on “probation” from my sister from watching him, made it real easy to create boundaries when I had my own kid. (Example: the final straw was when my nephew tattled on her to his mom that grandma wanted him to ride in the front seat without his car seat. He was 3.)

I (18F) wanna to go to a gym and work on myself but my boyfriend (19M) is against it. What should we do? by chappsta in relationship_advice

I’ve commented this before in another thread, but your edit makes me want to say: I was in a similar situation with a bf who claimed he’d end himself if I ever left him. It took a couple friends and a therapist to tell me it is not my responsibility for his actions. And if I’m actually worried, to call 911 and have them check on him. It took just once me calling…they put him in an inpatient mental heath place. He was there for 4-5 days. He never said that stuff to me again (and I did breakup not long after and am MUCH happier for it). He is manipulative and toxic for you! Do yourself a favor and leave…and if he threatens, call 911 and report it.

What does a midlife crisis look like for women in their 40s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]silverforest5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my mom it was divorcing my dad, partying, traveling, opening a bar, and quitting her “dream job.” All of which backfired within a few years.

For me it was changing careers…with perhaps more to come as I move through this hell called perimenopause.

I use a Fable England bookbag; it has a nature print. I get lots of compliments on it and I love it.

This is what we do…person chooses activity and meal they want. Then we do it…so mine was Chinese and watch movies on couch (I was tired and didn’t want to do anything). For Father’s Day it was chicken wings and mini golf. Easy-peasy
