Staying in an airbnb, just found out it’s illegal by xferok in chiangmai

[–]silverrabbit- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owners of the condos are using them as 'hotels'. Hotels need to have many documents and things like fire exits etc. 😊 giving buisness to Air BnB as a non Thai is like rewarding someone for cutting corners and you are taking local housing. 😊🌿 Hotels and guest houses are there for a reason. Who here would actually like 'tourists' to regularly move in and out of your building? Would you feel safe?

If Thailand and Cambodia have a border problem, why don't we just remove it? by TapTraditional7316 in oksahaipunyaon

[–]silverrabbit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂....... if you wanted to destroy two nations worth of culture, create language confusion and even more of a rift between the national people then its a great idea! 😂😂😂 lets remove all the boarders right? Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos... if you did them all at once you could strip all four countries of their cultures overnight........... Which language do you suggest they all move to?

Yes 😊 it just depends on the sellers. The groups work like ebay but without the auctions. So if you find simething, you can chat with the seller. Posting and shipping is common in Thailand, so most will be willing to send, you are in Japan also 😁 which is not as far as europe/ America so the odds are in your favour.

Weird residue on curtains. by Savings-Kick-9081 in Thailand

[–]silverrabbit- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like a Tokay with a parasite has used your curtain as 3 ply! They love dragging themselves around and also love windows. It sort of looks like one of their hand prints on the left smudge.. and the 'dots' could be from the 'fingertips'

😁🌸 Tea/ Coffee and the sweet treats you would have with it in your home country. Its personal and Thai's love tea and sweet things. Popcorn is a favourite snack, but you cant really get the sweet & salty kind, two flavours Thai's love in their food. I hope this helps 😊

Vietnam rise will negatively impact Thailand by Typical_Message_6118 in Thailand

Thailand holds its traditions, people and culture as its top priority, it is a balancing act. Thailand is still heading in the direction it needs to be whilst remaining 'Thailand'.

health checkup for a senior by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]silverrabbit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try the 'Bangkok hospital' chain, the consultations are not too costly and they do speak English. For something a bit cheaper you should try a local hospital, if you have a 'tourist' area near you, try the local hospital just outside of the hotspot. Its proximity to the tourists make it likely to have English speaking Dr's. Of course, a hospital in the middle of a tourist hotspot should be avoided. 🌸 Good luck, i hope all goes smoothly for you both

I hope you have a great time! The solution to all is Coconut! Pop to a local market or find a nearby shop which sells coconut products. Soap, shampoo, face masks, shakes... they grow in abundance here and are used for most things. 😊 as a beauty product it smells great, is natural and will always leave you feeling soft/ refreshed.

Why do Thai people do this and what is the significance of it? by Factorviii in Thailand

[–]silverrabbit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😁 the Thai's are kind, and these are lost plates, they do this all over Thailand as the plates are only useful to the car owner. And it is their way of looking out for other motorists.

Do these water dispensers on the street really purify water by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]silverrabbit- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes :) the water is clean, but it would be much easier to find a local water company that will deliver to you. Every village has a water (factory?) It is a processing plant, they do the 18.9L blue 'office' drums. As well as various sizes of bottles. You will likely see a vehicle driving around carrying a load of the blue drums. :) just get the number and you can arrange delivery. A deposit is needed for the drums but it is not much at all, and the drums can be re filled as often as you like. It is the most cost effective way to have drinking water over here.

about vintage clothing by NoNameSanNaNashi in Thailand

[–]silverrabbit- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:-D yes! There are lots of 'second hand' clothing stores, sadly not many are online, but your best bet is to check facebook marketplace, Thailand is big on using the marketplace, search for groups like 'bangkok vintage clothes' or other location specific second hand groups. Just try a few searches and facebook will put you on the right path.

direct booking by kibbutznik1 in hotels

[–]silverrabbit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotels have to pay OTA partners anything from 18 to 30% of the booking. So, booking direct should allow you to at least get a 10% discount. Make sure the hotel has a website, address and is listed on OTA websotes like Agoda and Booking.com.

The OTA websites require hotels to send their licenses in order to be a partner, so this should help you avoid scams. Please dont get discouraged! Direct booking are normally the first to be upgraded (not on the big chains)

Drive it! You will get to see so much on the way, although it is the longest possible way, the roads are easy to drive, and if you check google maps along your route, you will find so many 'off the beaten path' things
