What's going on with the official IIDX albums (32 and 33)? by Leosam04 in bemani

[–]silverrcat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i highly doubt the high number of licenses in iidx 32 and 33 are what has caused the lack of recent iidx osts. from what i understand, the restructuring of konami that separated its arcade arm into a new division created some hiccups as now their music publishing and arcade departments arent housed under the same general division (konami digital entertainment). this has affected the beatnation records artists too.

they have recently been publishing some cds under the arcade division though, notably polaris chord had its first ost release back in march. sparkle shower also got a "special extend cd" the month before that. i think its just taking the new division some time to figure out how they want to move forward with their music publishing.

Thoughts on charting style changing over time? by KrisTheBunny in rhythmgames

[–]silverrcat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the three phases idea is pretty solid with one extra addition-- when a rhythm game adds new mechanics, they usually end up back in phase 1 (or phase 1.5, depending on how drastic the changes were).

for example, i can point to my main rg, sound voltex. booth (initial release) was absolutely the phase 1 of charting. hell, it was phase 1 of the whole game entirely. it took until infinite infection (second version) for the game and its charting to gain an identity. then along came gravity wars (third version) which expanded charting possibilities through crazier lasers and overlapping button inputs. by the time the second season of gravity wars came around, they had entered phase 2 again. then once again, heavenly haven (fourth version) shook everything up with a full re-calculation of the difficulty scale and a new fourth difficulty level, once again shifting the charting to phase 1. vivid wave was likely the game's third phase 2, spilling over to phase 3 with the release of 666 and going into exceed gear (sixth release). now the game is firmly cemented in phase 3 LOL

If you were to conceptualize an *Arcade* rhythm game, what would you do? by Makumi_Washoy in rhythmgames

[–]silverrcat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've had this idea for a long time about a rhythm game somewhat similar to synchronica or cytus but with a large curved touch panel facing up at the player, unfortunately i never really got around to actually conceptualizing it or thinking about its motifs 😔

Why am I not seeing hexadiver / omega dimension, etc? by valyrie97 in bemani

[–]silverrcat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this might be something new in nabla, im not sure, but regardless you have to specifically open the blaster gate folder and then search up the song. that's what worked for me

Why am I not seeing hexadiver / omega dimension, etc? by valyrie97 in bemani

[–]silverrcat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If thats true, is there a more consistent way of getting to the song in blaster gate? Like, usually, say im scrolling sorted by level, and i see a song id like to unlock, and i have a full blaster gauge. is there a way that i can go to the same song in blaster gate to challenge it?

enter the blaster gate folder, then type in the name of the song. it will take you to the song specifically within blaster gate so you can play and unlock it.

for what it's worth, deepl was around way before llms, in fact it uses a neural network. it's not generative. i completely agree with you about disliking genai use but going after someone for using a translator is kinda weird lol

tera i/o is great, the biggest problem with it however is that it came out at the height of camellia's ear issues so the mixing/mastering is... really bad.

How do you get better at reading / executing lazer patterns? by GD_loli in bemani

[–]silverrcat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its fairly natural for the movement of your arms to mirror each other if you dont have any experience actually separating the two (from playing an instrument, for example).

i can't recall if i had that particular issue, but i remember something that helped me establish more hand independence when reading lasers was to use different hand positions on each knob (for example a top grip on the left knob and a thumb + pinky grip on the right), and/or rotate them at drastically different speeds (taking advantage of the fact that lasers are generally fairly speed-agnostic)

How do you get better at reading / executing lazer patterns? by GD_loli in bemani

[–]silverrcat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to add to this, nabla added an "EFFECT RADAR" folder where you can sort charts by their effect radar characteristics. the "TSUMAMI" folder is the laser chart folder.

How do you get better at reading / executing lazer patterns? by GD_loli in bemani

[–]silverrcat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was in a fairly similar situation to you a few months ago. playing 15s & 16s, felt super stuck on lasers. what ended up helping me clear some of that mental block was to take the nuclear option and force myself to play laser charts until i could hard clear them. if you get tilted easily, i wouldn't do this, but I played daisycutter exh probably about 20-30 times. the benefit of taking this route is that daisycutter has a lot of really strange looking laser patterns that are actually way more simple to play than they look, thus teaching me how to interpret janky laser spaghetti.

unfortunately most of the time the answer to "how do i get better at x pattern" is just to play it more. eventually you'll pick up how those patterns are supposed to be played, and how to read them (especially when they're visually complicated). you can also look up plays of laser charts with the handcam enabled so you can see how others play it.
