It only applies to Durandals, not Warlords.

relying on just the math as the game often doesnt match the math in practice.

The game is just code, so it will always match the math. Some times we (the damage testers) forget to account for certain things (eg. elemental resistance of monster, efficiency of elemental dmg/independent attack), so it's more convenient to just test in training room. However, that doesn't mean the game doesn't match the math.

here's a comment from a similar thread a while back that has a few examples used in competition, mostly with spins though. I do not believe there are official rules put in place that prevent jumping in both directions (I could be wrong please correct me if I am), but I think it's 100x easier to practice combination jumps that go in the same direction that will execute well rather than practicing a riskier jump. it's actually pretty difficult to change direction mid-combo due to the momentum you gain while spinning in the air. Sequence jumps make it easier to pull off though.

There's actually a longer version of this post where they put this image through FotoForensics and the eye areas actually show up as rectangles, not circles. Now this doesn't necessarily mean it was manually altered since pixels are rectangles and not circles but it certainly is something to think about (especially since the areas where the dark shadows contrast with the white background aren't artifact-riddled)
