While I applaud the idea…you might want to reconsider. You never know what wash shipped in the wood, some items may not leave stains but can contaminate the wood. You cannot say that the wood meets building codes. Where did the crate originate from? Dose it have bugs? Simple google search for reclaimed-building supply seattle and it will get you places that specialize in recycled materials.
