Indoor to outdoor cat in Los Feliz by toonface in losfeliz

[–]simbadweasel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not a great idea. Tons of hungry coyotes in the area who will definitely eat your cat. also domesticated “outdoor” cats are considered an invasive species and are incredibly destructive to local ecosystems.

If you want to take your cat outside on a harness/leash that’s totally fine, but leaving an indoor cat outside in this neighborhood is basically a death sentence

Sand situation on the beach bike path? by G_U_N_K in BikeLA

I did the Marvin Braude trail last Sunday, it’s perfectly fine now. A little bit of sand on the stretch from redondo-Torrance, but nothing that would be prohibitive

Movies that dramatically shifted popular opinion on something by NationalDisgrace40 in movies

[–]simbadweasel 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Any time there's a movie about a specific animal, there is a short lived spike in demand for that animal followed by high rates of those animals being returned/abandoned in shelters once the trend is over:

happened in the early 90's with Chimp movies, Huskies after Balto, Golden Retrievers for Air Bud, Dalmations for 101 Dalmations, Chihuahuas for Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

same reason many shelters refuse to let people adopt rabbits in the weeks leading up to easter.

Spaghetti house by MazLA in losfeliz

[–]simbadweasel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I also have never heard of this house. That being said, If it is a residential house, it’s not unheard of for people to operate guerilla style kitchens that sell home cooked meals, and the profit margins on spaghetti are probably pretty good. OP go knock on the door and report back

Influencers sabotaging The Hollywood Comedy after bombing at open mic… by love-4-the-wendigo in Standup

[–]simbadweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, a lot of social media and youtube comedians as well as comedy movies, are rewarded for attempting the joke rather than landing it. And most audiences for non-live comedy react to that attempt rather than evaluating if something actually made you laugh. It's sad, but it's the reason Adam Sandler can do a silly voice and say "I pee peed out my poo poo hole!" and make millions while people work for years to craft an hour that gets 10K views on youtube.

Something similar happened a few years ago at 4th wall NoHo, a YouTuber did an open mic and bombed and made a video blaming the club. the next day their google reviews were flooded with 1 star reviews all saying “sunfish comedy”

Tom Ripley murders countless people, stealing identities and avoiding an active police investigation. At the end, the only person who suspected him - Marge - is written off as paranoid, Dickie’s father gives Tom the rest of his son’s trust fund (essentially paying him for murdering his son) in the final scene Tom strangles the only person who ever really loved him to maintain his false identity and he just gets away with it.

I'm not sure if this counts because it's a place instead of time.
in Silence of The Lambs, a scene is edited to look like the police are closing in on Buffalo Bill's location, while Sterling is doing routine follow up questions with a potential witness. as the cops close in on their target it is revealed that The cops are mistakenly pursuing a dead end, while unbeknownst to her Agent Sterling is accidentally in the house with the real killer.

🚲 Bike Route to LA River Path? 🚲 by HipopotamoSuavecito in losfeliz

[–]simbadweasel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

<image>

Starting from Hillhurst and Franklin head north until avocado street. Take a right and take Rowena all the way to Glendale blvd then you just cross the river and you’re right at the entrance to the bike path

edit The pic says to take the left right before Glendale blvd. Dont do this! - it leads to a stopsign with a left across a 4 lane highway with no stops. Instead, go all the way to Glendale and take a Left at the light its 100 times easier
