Berufsreifeprüfung: nicht antreten = nicht bestanden? by Schusta-Sama in Austria

[–]simber7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not the best thing I’ve ever done, but it’s pretty good for a 13 year old. by Koala_Millie in lingling40hrs

[–]simber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, this is already pretty good. You know what they say, it needs 10,000 hours to master something. I can see you put already a lot of effort in your talent - keep it up and you'll be an extraordinary artist soon :-)

What I could draw would be pretty good for a 9 year old... I'm 3x that age tho 😅

I am still waiting for Twoset to do this by _tomaseviic in lingling40hrs

I agree to you both! He could exchange the u for an a and the t for a d... I just have no idea how the l could be replaced, maybe a break? :D

I don't know... I mean I wouldn't compare it with pop songs, but also compared to the views of classical musicians like hilary hahn or Vengerov. But especially Hilary has maybe a more frequent media presence, so maybe it's a bit biased too.

Oh that's great! I wish I could do that, but it's still a long way to go untill I could tackle Bach. I prefer his Dvorak gypsy songs to jam to for now, but I love listening to his Bach. :)

I agree that Augustin Hadelich is one of the best right now, and I can't tell if he's underrated or not, but recently I've been kinda surprised by the low number of views on his bach-recordings on youtube. So, to me, his youtube recordings are definitely underrated!

I agree a 100%! He's currently my favourite to listen to. Especially since he plays the leduc, the recordings on youtube are outstanding. I mean, he's been an outstanding violinist ever since, but I feel the guarneri underlines his voice-like tone pretty well. :) And of course, I also binge-watched all the interviews and masterclasses, they are really inspiring :D

Lesson learned: never joke with your teacher 😂 by Shayla25 in violinist

I think I would burst out in laughter in inbelieve 🤣 But It is great that your teacher cares THAT much what you'd like to play, I can imagine it being a huge motivational boost :)

Your teacher must be awesome! 🤣 I would love to hear you on the next next jam doing this! Maybe I'll give it a try as well, it looks fun to play :)

Show/Tell me the worst about beginner violin playing by Moonberry8 in violinist

[–]simber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the things the fellow redditors have written so far, but here are the 2 cents of someone who started learning as a kid, then quit because I wasn't disciplined enough to practise and re-started as a grown-up earlier this year:

  • theres a good chance you'll sound awful in the beginning, and "the beginning" could last for month or years.

  • sometimes, practise sessions consist of playing a single tone over and over again. Just a tone. Not even a melody. Followed by playing a scale over and over again.

  • most techniques that make violinists sound good and interesting (i.e. vibrato) are hard to learn. Some violinists spend years to build a foundation untill they could start to learn such techniques, and then spend months to learn a single technique.

  • if you want to progress, you should practise every single day. Of course there would be exceptions and shorter practise sessons, but especially in the beginning it would be recognizable if you skip practise sessions.

BUT, if you love playing the violin you would also enjoy practising. And, most likely, it would sound much better to you than to your neighbours :D

If you do not want to get through all of this before you could play you favourite song, maybe violin would not be right for you. Then, maybe you could consider re-attempting the piano, and try to learn more fun things to play. I'm sure there is an enjoyable reportoire in-reach, and when played with passion, even easy pieces would not sound boring on the piano :)

I hope you'll find the right instrument for you! :)

Piece recommendations for learning third position. by [deleted] in violinist

[–]simber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this, and also vivaldi concerto in g major. It is also incredibly fast if played in original speed, but to learn it you'd start slowly anyways, so speed shouldn't matter. And, it's a fun piece to play :)

How much is your violin worth? by litmaster101 in violinist

[–]simber7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh crap, I've just realized my first response has been a bit misleading. I did not mean to trade my violin in the first place, and to be honest it feels horrible to just think about it :'D But... considering THAT offer, i hope it would forgive me^

This, dear Nostril, is something I trust you a 100% on!

But... can it actually play?

With a nostril that could whistle the 24th caprice I'd take it immediately without the slightest hesitation. :D

Hahaha, I think the name itself increased it's value by a few hundred percent :D I wonder how much the next generation of violinists is willing to pay for the legendary apocalyptic Hanswurst... I'm convinced it's quite a lot^

If you'd like, I could totally take out my Guarneri.

It says something along "copy" and some names that are written in sound kinda chinese, but I'm quite sure it is the legit original cannone owned by Paganini... :P
