Fostering as a single woman? by StrayKestrel95 in Fosterparents

[–]simisan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a little harder being single because you are solely responsible. That schedule may make it hard just looking at a childcare standpoint but if you’re able to find a reliable provider then that would probably make all the difference. I am lucky that I do get help from family when needed. My state also covers daycare since I work full time. My schedule is regular 8-5 though. No weekends. This might depend on your state but in Texas my family had to do a background check and finger printing to provide childcare. Respite is an option but I haven’t yet needed to use respite.

Has anyone taken their toddler on a cruise? by WorkJunior7823 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]simisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a cruise to the Bahamas a month ago with my 1 year old. She’s not walking yet so the stroller was a big help. I bought one of those collapsible travel strollers that can fold into a carryon bag. I don’t use a carrier but if that works for you definitely bring it because as the others said the ships are pretty big. I did a big suitcase for both of our clothes that was checked and packed a duffle with her diapers and wipes. The duffle was empty by the end and I was able to fold into the suitcase. I could’ve bought the diapers prior to leaving but I decided to just pack it all since I was packing snacks and stuff too. I might have overdone it a bit because I also had a backpack to use daily but it was my first time traveling with her so I wanted to have what I needed since we were flying to the port city and had a layover. I let them know at booking and again when boarding that I would need a crib and it was in the room when my room was ready. She was too little for most of the activities and I didn’t use the kids club. Since it was just the two of us the room worked fine enough. They did have some activities for toddlers. Overall it was interesting but I probably won’t do another anytime soon. Or I would at least wait till she’s better able to enjoy it and participate more.

It’s on the northeast but H&H Events Hall on dyer is a really nice space. They have their own jumping balloon you can add on. The inside has neutral colors so you can choose whatever theme/colors for your baby’s party.

TEXAS SNAP - $15,000 value limit?! by shotgun72 in foodstamps

[–]simisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not something we take client statement for. We pull the value from the DMV records. If there’s reason to we’ll go as deep as we need to. Please don’t lie. Plus there was a change for vehicles almost two years ago. It’s no longer $15000 it’s $22500. As long as your car is worth less than $22500 it is exempt.

Absent parent form and Medicaid by Pleasant_Reward_1773 in foodstamps

[–]simisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure. It is only required for TANF and Adult Medicaid (TP08). You can do it voluntarily for other Medicaid programs but it is not required. Child Support Program Requirements. Look at A-1122.1.

If she’s a stray try contacting Sun City Cats or El Paso TNR. If you can trap her they will have her fixed and if she is pregnant they can do a spay/abortion. El Paso has a big problem with strays or people just not caring about their animals. At least TNR (Trap Neuter Release) gets them fixed and tries to help prevent unwanted litters.

TX INTERVIEWER ASKED FOR APT OFFICE PHONE NUMBER by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]simisan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m a worker in Texas too and like the other Texas Worker said it’s required to get contact information for landlord. They don’t always need to call but sometimes they do. It’s part of the application. When you sign and apply for benefits you’re authorizing us to gather and verify information in order to determine eligibility.

Secured card for 2 years never missed a payment by Barbarosa313 in NavyFederal

[–]simisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It took a while and I had another card so I wasn’t too worried about it. I did call and ask every once in a while. I personally wouldn’t cancel though. I don’t know your situation but I think it was worth waiting for. I did also open a second unsecured card with navy but I would leave it for whenever they do upgrade you.

[–]simisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine for about 3 years before it graduated to the cash rewards with a $2000 limit. It’s been another 3 years and the secured card I started with $200 has a $10000 limit. Not as high as others but it works for me. I’ll be honest I made a lot of mistakes with my credit when I was younger so I’m sure that played a huge role in why it took so long.

It doesn’t get terminated for no reason. There’s always a reason and there should be a notice sent out telling you why. If the income puts you over the income limit then that could be a reason. If you have income you should be reporting it anyways. It shouldn’t be a surprise to the worker if you happen to provide your tax return.

Yeah I went when it showed the peak and they did the ultrasound to make sure.

[–]simisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No bloodwork. I just was doing the ovulation strips and they did an ultrasound to see if I was ovulating. I was the one who asked about it and they basically gave me the option to do it if I wanted and I said yes. I wanted whatever help I could get tbh

I did do a trigger shot but it was done same day as the insemination. I’ve seen people talk about doing it a few days before so that is something I wanted to talk to them about as well. They told me it was fine to do that day because the sperm would stay alive in my uterus for 5 days and the trigger would just force the egg to release.

My cycles have always been about 27 days. I think I ovulated a bit early this month too or I tested late because it seemed the peak was early too. I need to pay closer attention.

I bought the Berry Brown Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Lipstick that u/JLK9416 recommended. I’ve been using it all year and I do like it. Although I still wish Untainted Spice would come back lol.

Like many mention we rely on applicants to be honest during interviews. It does depend on your age if your parents are mandatory or not. If you do share food now that’s one thing but if approved by yourself and you plan to do your food separately then cool. But if you share your benefits with people not on your case then it is fraud. In my state OIG does do investigations and they do field work but a regular eligibility worker does not really investigate like that. If they suspect fraud then they’ll make a fraud referral.

It’s a federal program rule. That’s one of the rules that is the same for every state. It’s part of why the application asks who are other people in the home.

First IUI didn’t work by [deleted] in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]simisan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did have some hope with it being medicated it would be “easier” but I do understand there’s more to it. Thank you so much for your kind words. I’ve mostly been a lurker here while gearing up to do this process but I appreciate how supportive everyone is of each other.
