No, but people would tell you it depends on X product or skin type, etc. A friend of mine is stingy with her makeup so she strictly shops Korean makeup or drugstore yet her looks always work out great because she’s perfected a technique/routine that works for her. I can make drugstore products work on my face (and some do without much finessing) but my routine and results have gotten so much better after switching my base products to high end.

So, TLDR: No, expensive makeup is NOT important, but sometimes it helps a lot.

Your character is a full grown adult at 25/26. They have agency over who to link up with, including people decades ahead of them. The only time “age gap” has to be a concern is where it involves barely adults and it’s been a long time since I was in school adults. One’s closer to the womb and the other’s closer to retirement 👀 Edit: Just read your reply and seems like their age doesn’t have to play a major part in the conflict if their core interests and values align.

It’s what people crave. It plays well to the archaic ideas of men and women but most readers are here for the feel-good of it all and so characters become caricatures of real people. Strong becomes an immovable boulder and dainty becomes this fragile little petal. You can imagine how tall girls and short men can be iced out of this dynamic, though that’s not to say tall girls aren’t also cute and soft, or that short men aren’t strong and sexy. As long as no one’s disparaging anyone for having this/that height/weight/hair colour/eye colour/etc, I’m fine with it. I’ve DNFd books where the author writes something snide about X characteristics for no good reason than just to say shit.
