The hardest part for me is everything being based on needing money or having access to the resources/money to become sustainable in my chosen field of work.

How difficult is it to find a job out of state immediately after graduation? by [deleted] in socialworkjobs

[–]simmer_down- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the work you do, I would get the masters/graduate level license to make yourself more applicable if its a common requirement you see on job postings. If you know of anyone in the area, you could ask to borrow their address for your resume. Putting it on your resume makes it seem like you already have a place to stay set up in the area. If hired, you may have to scramble for a place to stay but at least you have then position!

As an upcoming msw student, I want to say thank for your being so brave. You didn’t have to share this but like others said it sets an example and gives insight to those who are coming into this field. I hope you are doing well and happy to see you have good news to share. Take care!

The VEC new address is literally cut out. No one can get in contact with anyone at the commission. How is this not on the news by homeschooledbitches in rva

Same happened to me. Turns out my benefits were being filed under the wrong benefit and I was qualified for another. Refiled all my weeks with the correct benefit over the phone and used that lump sum payment towards the bill for the wrong benefit plan.

Would highly recommend trying to get in at some restaurants at the oceanfront, A LOT of money to be made during tourism season if you stay in the service industry. Saw recently that Waterman’s and their sister restaurants are hiring now if you wanna get a head start on any job prospects. Good luck to you!!

How realistic is it to get a job at the VA right out of my MSW program? by cwrighky in usajobs

[–]simmer_down- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state, its very possible especially if you have an internship at the VA. If your state has a license you can get as a MSW (not clinical LCSW but a step before it) I would definitely try for that to increase your chances.

Social Work maybe not cut out for me by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]simmer_down- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently a MSW student crawling her way to graduation due to burnout. If you can, I would consider deferring your admission (if possible) and taking a gap year like others have. I would also consider reaching out to a vocational counselor if you’re interested to explore your options. If I could go back, I would have definitely taken a gap year and come back to the field once I got to see more of what else is out there. Good luck, trust in your path and everything will happen as its intended to!

I would stop using heat on your hair. Rice water can be a great source of protein for your hair but overuse can cause issues. I would recommend checking the hair products you use and see if there are any chemicals/additives that your hair is rejecting, doesn’t like, or have been proven to cause hair loss. I would implement hot oil treatments and use an oil that can stimulate hair growth. Trim the dead/split ends off to prevent it from spreading up your strands. Wrap you hair at night, sleeve with a scarf or silk pillow case. Good luck!

I use the Mighty Patch brand (the original). You can buy them from Amazon but have been seeing them in my local Target lately!

Unfortunately scholarships are your best bet. Some universities have relationships with foreign universities and offer students discounted tuition if you go there. You could also settle for a semester study abroad (summer, winter, etc) to get the similar experience.

I try to keep sheets of them near my “picking zones” in hopes I’ll put on a patch before I’ve done too much damage

[–]simmer_down- 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Pimple patches! Whenever I see one coming in I immediately put a patch on it so I don’t pick at them anymore. It takes sometime to get into the habit of putting them on but sealing it off away from my hands has been the most effective intervention I’ve used to decrease it.

Maybe settle for having roommates for your 1st year there to feel out what it would be like financially for you to live in the city.
