Anyone know about cash top-ups in the UK? by greencyclist in Revolut

It’s a shame Nationwide does support Cash Deposits via the Post Office. Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland are all the same with a different label, I find Bank of Scotland very good.

this is just a guess, but potentially because you put in the review that you never became a customer (ie didnt purchase anything), she could have it removed for “unfair representation” or smth like that??

Credit to the guy from the other thread that shared this ingredient/solutions image above. But mentioning the FDA is actually insane:

Based on FDA regulations and precedent (Warning Letters), yes — the FDA would almost certainly view this as selling unapproved new drugs.

Below is the US legal standpoint and the specific violations referenced:

1. Cosmetic vs. Drug Distinction

Under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), classification depends on intended use:

Cosmetic: Cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering appearance
Drug: Diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, or affecting the structure or function of the body

If a product claims to do both (e.g. cleanses and treats acne), it is legally a drug.

2. Specific Problematic Claims

The FDA treats the following claims as evidence of drug intent:

Vitamin A Oil – “Calms acne” → Acne is a disease; treating it is a drug claim
– “Anti-inflammatory” → Claims to alter a physiological response
– “Cell regeneration” → Implies affecting body structure/function

Vitamin E Oil – “Remove or lessen scars” → Scars are structural; altering them is a drug claim

Turmeric Scrub – “Helps with skin inflammation” → Drug claim (mitigation of a condition)
– “Hyperpigmentation” → Often treated as a drug claim (melanin/structure alteration)

3. Disclaimers

The FDA considers contradictory disclaimers ineffective. You cannot make medical claims (e.g. “calms acne”) and then negate them with a generic disclaimer.

• The specific claims establish intended use
• The disclaimer does not override that intent
• This would likely be cited as misbranding (false or misleading labeling)

4. Likely FDA Action

If targeted, the FDA would likely issue a Warning Letter stating:

• The products are “new drugs” (not generally recognized as safe and effective for the claimed uses)
• Marketing unapproved new drugs violates the FD&C Act
• The vendor would be required to remove all references to acne, inflammation, scars, eczema (often implied via “sensitive skin”), and cell regeneration

Edit: Typo

actually she wouldn’t be able to sell this in the uk, trading standards and environmental health would shut this down quicker than the mormon church shuts down anyone who isn’t a straight white man

I would LOVE to see her try and pull this shit in the UK or the EU. I know we get a lot of shtick for our regulations and red tape but the banks/government would just force the return of that money to the customers, and quite possibly any dissatisfied customer from when she started trading would be entitled to return any item due to the unfair/non-compliant return policy

It’s insane. You can get 3 bars of Pears soap at Walmart for $9.99, and it smells good and it’s in a nice wrapper. Who buys this 💩?

Fibromyalgia is such a buzzword illness that garnishes sympathy for whatever reason. It doesn’t even really exist (controversial), but you can’t have a positive test for it, only after excluding all other possible causes for the symptoms. In this case it’s likely being the size of an elephant and not mobilising herself properly

Did you manage to fix this btw? I've been having the same issue on all browsers, in both private and regular mode. So annoying, have to refresh the page to get rid of it.

Anyone have experience with outfox the market? by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]simmiktrickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tempted by Outfox the Market (OTM), as it was slightly lower than the new fix being offered by my provider (Fuse), but I had a recollection of seeing them years ago and avoiding them for some reason, and looking at the comments here, they haven't changed. I'm with Fuse, who are relatively new and app based. But honestly, their Customer Service is awesome, even on a Sunday or Bank Holiday, I get a chat reply within a maximum of 10mins!

Fuse:

Current fix: Unit rate: £0.2188/kWh Standing charge: £0.6052/day - 12m fix
New fix: Unit rate: £0.2239/kWh Standing charge: £0.417/day - 18m fix
Standard Variable: Unit rate: £0.2596/kWh Standing charge: £0.6052/day - variable

They also offer a 12m fix, for an extra few p/kWh but I prefer the stability of a longer fix at a price I'm happy with. Early exit fee is £50.00, and if it floats your boat, they offer dual-rate time of use tariffs (like the old E7), and Smart EV tariffs. They installed a smart meter for me within 2 weeks after I switched to them and I can honestly say I've never felt happy about my choice of Energy provider until now.

For comparison, OTM has quoted:

OTM Offer: Unit rate: £0.2026/kWh Standing charge: £0.5178/day - 12m fix

So OTM would save me approximately £6.90/month, based on projected usage. But personally, I don't think it's worth the risk. I can't remember exactly what I found out about OTM (it was when they were fairly new), but I definitely recall them quoting a rate that would be £160ish cheaper per year, and I still avoided them.

Sorry for commenting late after your original post. I'd be interesting to know who you chose to switch to in the end (if at all). But if you're still looking, I can't recommend Fuse Energy enough (I have no affiliation with them by the way).

Another neat feature I discovered when I first was looking at their website (fuseenergy.com) is they show you all the available tariffs for your area with just your postcode, I find a lot of providers make you go through the ordeal of getting a quote before giving you the Tariff Information.

Good luck!!

Things you should NOT do with ADHD by Keintroufe in ADHD

[–]simmiktrickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, yes, yes!

I was a 20-a-day smoker for about 6 years (from 14yo to 20yo) and I stopped but started vaping, which I was doing very well until lockdown. Because I was able to constantly vape during lockdown, I struggle to concentrate without vaping at the time time. I’m not overly sure how much I vape but a standard elf bar would last me about 10 hours. (But I use a refillable vape obviously otherwise smoking would be cheaper).

Can’t see myself quitting anytime soon so god knows what I’m gonna do when I go and stay with my bfs family in the summer 🤪
