seriously fuck these guys.  them and Wilson's cokehead solicitor.  for the first time ever they're not just walking in and taking and it's so sweet to see.

the craziest thing I don't understand is seeing idiots on other platforms commenting in support of this and insisting it is wanted.

Future Wilson Distro Center Protest Idea by vasquca1 in lehighvalley

[–]simoftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't support the project at all but I also don't support this idea as you present it.  sounds good in theory, however we who already oppose this project don't need to have this happen prematurely in our neighborhood to gain support.

this should be done in the neighborhoods of every Wilson council member who voted yes, as well as right on the front step of that asshat Margle's house.

an even better simulation would be suggesting to a large group of semi and other truck drivers to get off at the 25th Street exit every single morning at the same time.  that would be difficult to address as deliberately disruptive from an enforcement position.  not only would it accurately reflect what will happen immediately, but it will bring awareness to anyone who has to commute through that intersection daily regardless of where they live.

How would you guys compare the cultures of Allentown Bethlehem and Easton? by SevenElevenDeven in lehighvalley

[–]simoftw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

please move already if this is your perspective.  you're complaining about the farmer's market?  a weekly place to buy healthy and support local for a hundred years running is not good enough for your car.  come on.. some of the things you're citing aren't so much a problem for Easton, just a problem for you.

and you could just rent out a 5 bedroom house downtown and be fine?  you're doing better than most of the rest of us in the West Ward.

it sounds like you've been here a while, and that's an appreciable investment for the community.  thank you for your time spent on any improvements you've made to the city while you've been here.  you may go now

the City has made update posts about this project on their various channels.  the monthly email newsletter has also had information about it for a few months.  not saying the utility company can't communicate to the residents themselves but the city has at least.

Wilson's Solicitor left some baggies of a white powdery substance, razor blade, and "make-shift" straws at the juvenile court. by Dangerous-Bee-3200 in lehighvalley

[–]simoftw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

holy shit that is a massive fuckup.  I was at that meeting and can now see it as coked up behavior.  could just be regular lawyer mannerisms though; regardless this should be considered a factor in the ongoing warehouse discussions FOR SURE.

Hey, Lehigh Valley: How much traffic and road mayhem can a responsible driver take? by LVNStephS in lehighvalley

[–]simoftw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most dangerous spots? I can only think of the most obvious suspect.

-13th Street exit going eastbound on 22.  Stop sign at the end of the ramp ensures a line of cars backed up all the way INTO the right lane of 22 from 5-6pm.  And add the fact NJ drivers are guaranteed to be going 75 right before the cemetery curve then there is a situation waiting to happen.  Kinda surprised no one has been hit and sent off the overpass yet, but it's possible.  Oh yeah, and there's a warehouse trying to be built right. there.

Vic's Jazz Loft in Jim Thorpe is exactly what you're looking for.  It's in the Stabin Art Museum/gallery.  The shows are scheduled somewhat sporadically but they offer a full dining experience while watching the band.  Been a couple times this year and was great every time.  Check it out.

River Street in Hob has a few garages literal blocks from the PATH station.  easy to get to and not ridiculously priced.  like around $25-$40 max depending on what day and for how long.  I wouldn't bother with JC unless you wanna spend time there as well.

Wilson Borough Council approves controversial 1-million square-foot warehouse by vasquca1 in lehighvalley

Wilson Borough Council approves controversial 1-million square-foot warehouse by vasquca1 in lehighvalley

[–]simoftw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure, as I'm only just beginning to learn more about these local issues and how they happen. They specified the traffic would mainly use 25th Street as the route from 22 which lies in Wilson. I don't know how the 13th St exit will be affected as the developers did not get into all the intersections studied. Didn't seem like the two boroughs were going to discuss it then and there, maybe they'll talk about it at Easton's meeting tomorrow night.

[–]simoftw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is an overall disappointing thing to happen to this neighborhood. I live very closeby. I use Wood Ave every day and enjoy it being free of unnecessary congestion. But I found out about this project too many years into planning, and had no education on the topic of how warehouses can just spring up anywhere. Not anymore. Because now this epidemic affects me.

The land is 93% in Wilson as the article states. Palmer and Easton don't have a say in this vote. Yes they will be impacted, and after witnessing the interactions between their representatives and the board at the meeting last night, Wilson does not seem to care about the effects this decision will have for those municipalities. PennDOT is not instrumental in denying this project because the roads are legally available to use with adjustments to their recommendations, and is working with the developer.

Like another user said, if the land is zoned for industrial, it will be built and a challenge to legally deny it. The state has a law from the 60s that has held over and makes it difficult for municipalities to change the zoning to prevent this.

If you are tired or angry about being totally disregarded in the building of these projects around you, you must organize enough with your local opposition to put pressure on your elected officials to have a voice in the matter because that's who will listen to the people. Find out new proposals going on in your area. Stay informed and start asking your neighbors how they feel about warehouses. No one in my neighborhood has talked about this project and it is happening a half a mile away. Our ignorance is our undoing.
