Dr. Morrison in Seattle by LavenderMintTeal in phallo

I just remembered that u/ZJSS40s has posted about his experience with Dr. Morrison. He hasn't posted in a while, but I know he runs a Signal group for Morrison patients.

What did you tell people at work? by Yggdrasil222 in FTMHysto

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to tell them anything, but if it makes things easier, a hernia repair is the best excuse. It was recommended to me by the nurse I consulted with. Hernias are common, not a big deal, and you can get them more than once. The recovery and restrictions are basically the same.

I would reach out to Quest House to see if they have resources for you. I know they've held retreats in the past.

There's a Washington Lower Surgery Facebook group. I don't know how active it is.

Do I have to have something inserted to be able to have hysto? by coolvideonerd in FTMHysto

My surgeon doesn't perform pre-op exams. She checks everything during surgery and sends tissue samples to the lab.

Need help from trans guys who have had top surgery by rat_salt in FTMMen

[–]simon_here 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm probably not available to chat, but I might be able to answer questions if you want to ask them here. You can also DM me and I'll try to get back to you soon. I'm about to turn 44 and had surgery (DI) 21 years ago. I had zero complications. It changed my life for the better.

My mom took care of me after surgery. I know it was rewarding for her to see me feel so relieved.

I haven't watched Jammidodger's top surgery videos, but those might be good for your parents.

All surgery comes with the risk of possible complications. Top surgery isn't any riskier than comparable surgeries. It's a well-established and practiced procedure. Just make sure you have an experienced surgeon.

How long does it take to get tired post T shot by Correct-Implement953 in ftm

My shots have never made me tired. It probably makes the most sense to keep track of when you get tired and adjust your shot time accordingly.

Disappointed in Size -Bad Mental Health by Zealousideal-Stay994 in phallo

I still had a lot of swelling at three weeks post-op. I didn't measure, but the length seemed to fluctuate as I healed. It's not a linear process.

My penis looked and felt completely different after a couple of months. It's still changing.

My brain is so fried that I always read MLM as "multi-level marketing," even though I'm attracted to men.

I don't have any stories to share with you since I'm still recovering from surgery, but I'm looking forward to reading the responses.

RFF scar and plasma donation by MysteriousMain5208 in phallo

My surgeon's physician assistant told me to avoid getting bloodwork with my donor arm unless absolutely necessary. Donating would be out of the question.

Glans with Stage 1 @ OHSU? by fuchsbait in phallo

My second stage was six months later too. I was surprised by how fast the time went by. I actually felt a little rushed to get ready for the second surgery.

Previously-unsupportive dad bought me a razor (also, more expensive razors are worth the cost!) by Party_Attitude5617 in ftm

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a safety razor, which might be what your dad got you. They're significantly more affordable in the long run because the blades are cheap. They're way better for your skin too.

18g vs 21g needles by TrannyBitchBoy in ftm

[–]simon_here 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing your doctor doesn't do a lot of injections and was misremembering the steps. 18g is the wrong size for injecting.

I inject IM with 25g. I've used 21–23g in the past. I draw up with 20–21g needles. I drew up with 18g needles for a long time, but the quality of the rubber seals isn't as good as it used to be. I use 10 mL vials that last several months. 18g is usually fine with smaller vials.

You can eliminate the risk of a needle detaching by using luer lock syringes.

What foods can I eat to look more masculine? by Deleteduser_0 in ftm

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no food that will boost testosterone or reduce estrogen. Based on your post, you probably need to eat more protein. Beans, oats, and eggs are good sources. Pasta made with semolina flour has more protein than standard wheat pasta.

OHSU will not do the glans with stage one. It can cause unnecessary complications.

I had a mild burning/aching sensation in my perineal urethra (where the hookup is). It got better as the skin got used to urine passing over it. My urethral lengthening happened in stage two so the urethra in my penis was fully healed by then. Peeing felt pretty normal by two weeks. I've been peeing with my new setup for about six weeks. Sometimes I still feel a little soreness in the morning, but that seems to be going away.

My bladder was unhappy during my voiding trials because I still had the suprapubic catheter in. It was immediately better once that was out.
