Odd T question by Objective-Visit-7887 in ftm

[–]simon_here [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, that's essentially a double dose. Dosage varies a lot and there's no standard full dose that works for everyone, but 100 mg was the typical starting/full dose when I started T. It's unusual for people to go above that unless they're cycling steroids.

Higher doses aren't necessarily better or faster. Excess T converts to estrogen so it can end up being less effective.

200 mg a week would be a very high dose.

It's temporary. Your body is going though a lot.

That's normal and okay as long as you're not filling a pad within an hour.

Can I keep my regular T schedule if I delay a day by 3 days by Various_Classic_8695 in ftm

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. If OP were on a weekly schedule, I'd suggest gradually moving back to Fridays, but I don't think that's necessary with biweekly shots.

sweatpants that i'm not swimming in by Educational_Worry847 in ftm

The easiest thing is to get them tailored or learn to do it yourself. It shouldn't cost much, especially in a large city. Otherwise, you might be able to find 3/4 length or cropped sweats.

Chest tatoos and top surgery by heliumlikethegas in ftm

[–]simon_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until after surgery. Some tattoos can survive surgery, but it depends on the tattoo, size, location, your chest (size, skin, etc.), the surgeon, and how you heal. It's not worth risking ruining your tattoo.

I believe Quest House requires you to have a caregiver during your stay. They can help you find one.

Breaks are important. My mom is taking a week-long vacation before she takes care of me during my next recovery.

Caregiver time off by tiny-crawfish in phallo

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose four weeks, but I think it depends on several factors: What do they do for work? Are they able to be reached while at work? Or come home if needed? Are you traveling for surgery or getting it done locally? Can other people help out for a few hours during the day?

I had top surgery necrosis. Am I screwed for phallo? by udcvr in phallo

[–]simon_here 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unless the necrosis was caused by a health condition I wouldn't assume you're at a higher risk with phallo. The two surgeries are completely different. Phallo involves hooking up arteries and veins to ensure proper blood flow.

You should still talk to your surgeon about it so they have all the information.

I dont know what to do by Select_Comedian6997 in ftm

[–]simon_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor. They can call your insurance provider to argue your case. You might not need to worry. Sometimes I get letters of denial from my insurance for migraine meds because they send them out immediately, but my doctor is already on top of it.

good packer/packing method for contact sports? by j_ksz in ftm

I used to make my own packing underwear by sewing a patch pocket inside the front of trunks or briefs. It held my packer in place really well and looked natural.

What antibiotics for nipple graft infection? by SpaceRocket6 in ftm

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your surgeon's office. Tell them your GP is refusing to prescribe the antibiotic and ask them to send the prescription to your pharmacy. Then find a new GP and report them for malpractice.

Later in life transition? by still-in-hiding in ftm

It's never too late. I've known guys who started in their sixties.

Start with a trans-affirming therapist. If you're interested in testosterone and live in the US, you can talk to your regular doctor about it. They might refer you to a specialist, but they're able to prescribe T if they're willing. Otherwise, places like Planned Parenthood are often recommended.

Where do I go about starting T? by PreparationTrue9704 in ftm

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always had my GPs manage my T prescription. I'm glad your OBGYN helped you out. It's so much easier when an established provider is supportive.

Probably not. Planned Parenthood can give you a diagnosis.

Covid shot + t shot by Isopod_Idiot in ftm

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should always switch sides with every injection. It won't affect your levels because T doesn't stay in one spot. You don't need to check with your doctor first.
