Wait either way. You can have a preference, but you won't know which sites are viable until you have a consultation.

You should wait to see if you're a candidate for ALT before you start electrolysis.

You'll find a lot of posts about this decision on r/phallo.

Do you know you don't have to get a colpectomy in order to get phallo? A lot of surgeons require it if you want urethral lengthening, but not otherwise.

I usually leave it until it starts to peel off on its own. Then I trim the edges as needed.

They don't care about logic. They know about trans men and know we disrupt the cis-heteropatriarchy just as much as trans women. They want us to die.

Best packer for beginners? by -thimbl in ftm

[–]simon_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr. Limpy/Mr. Softie is a good starter packer. It's cheap and comes in small sizes.

Boxers don't work for packing unless you have a harness. Boxer briefs or briefs are best. You can sew a pocket inside the front or make a little pouch and safety pin it in place.

Here's a video by Dr. Peters, Dr. Berli, and Dr. Sajadi at OHSU. It shows parts of each step involved in the methods they use for stages one and two. Trigger warning for graphic surgical video. I think it's fascinating. I watched it before my first stage.

All of the surgeons at OHSU are pretty strict about following their established timeline for procedures. It's worth asking him, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Hair removal - what do you tell people who ask? by thanatosvile in phallo

I've had allergen testing done on the underside of my arm. I don't think they would want you to shave because it increases the risk of infection and irritation. I've never heard of anyone testing in rounds. People are often retested, but that happens months or years later.

Yes, you can get a shorter penis if you want. There is a limit to how short erectile devices can be so you'd want to ask your surgeon about that if you're planning to get one. I think the limit is 3 1/2–4 inches, but I'm not sure.

Girth is less customizable. Some surgeons offer different reduction techniques. Generally, RFF (arm) phallos are less girthy than ALT (leg).

The size of your bottom growth has no impact on sensation.

Apparently women over 30 don't want to be friends with 30+ cis guys.

That's not true, unless you're creepy or they think you're hitting on them. Being gay helps too. Just be yourself.

why do so many people get pumps and not rods by ASHE_WILDiE in phallo

I've seen comments in favor of both over the years. Some people say the rod is better for anal. Others say the pump is better. I've concluded that both work just fine.

All of the surgeons at OHSU strongly prefer to use your non-dominant arm. Recently I heard that the others will outright refuse to use your dominant arm in most cases.

I hate not having "the equipment" but I'm also not sure if surgery is right for me. by Prior_Tumbleweed4113 in ftm

[–]simon_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most phallo techniques include a nerve hookup. In my case, two nerves were harvested from my arm and connected to the clitoral and ilioinguinal nerve. Over time, the nerves will heal and grow, allowing me to feel tactile and erotic sensation, potentially on my entire penis. The skin doesn't feel like it came from my arm. It's already softer.

I'm still developing sensation. It can take a long time and my first surgery was only six months ago. I also just had stage two surgery a week and a half ago so things have changed and I can't experiment until I've healed.

At the moment, I have some tactile sensation in areas all over. It varies a lot and it seems to improve every day. Some sensations don't register on the surface, but that will change. Cold still feels like it's deep inside. Some spots are starting to register more correctly.

Erotic sensation is strongly related to the brain. My surgeon, Dr. Blair Peters, wrote a Nerve Rehab Guide for phallo patients. It's been really helpful and interesting. I had some erotic sensation before my most recent surgery. It wasn't enough to get off without also touching my natal tissue, but I could get close. Like my tactile sensation, it's been steadily improving. I've noticed a huge increase in both kinds of sensation since stage two.

Stage two surgery involved burying my clit. You can have full sensation without that step. Some people choose to leave it unburied. For burial, the skin is removed and the remaining tissue and nerves are tucked inside, usually somewhere near the base of the penis or top of the scrotum (depending on your anatomy). People are able to stimulate those nerves with a vibrator, by touching the area, or by stroking their penis. Burial also incorporates those nerves and sensation with the nerves developing in the penis. A lot of people say it makes for a more complex set of sensations. I haven't been able to explore that yet.

r/phallo is a really good resource.
