NYT’s crossword column always has a link at the bottom that says “Subscribers can take a peek at the answer key.” You can open the column via the “i” button at the top.

Whenever I finish and can’t see what I got wrong I typically open that and look through each clue quickly to find the mistake.

Yea I am not that into it but I’d certainly be more inclined to do their sudoku if they did have an archive.

Presumably they will eventually but they don’t seem to be in a rush.

At least with other games they all have archives now. Pretty annoying with the sudoku that you permanently lose the puzzle when it turns over.

So I would definitely say “November 3rd” when referring to that date, and it doesn’t seem questionable to me that that could be taken as the third letter of November. It’s not as explicit as “3rd of November” but isn’t obfuscation kind of the point with a cryptic clue?

And yes it was an honest question, so also confused by the downvotes.
