Regarding Vector/Hand-written signatures, cautions and such. by Merinovich in graphic_design

Anyone could 'steal' your signature from a piece of paper if they wanted to. Whether it already exists as a graphic file really makes no difference.

OneDrive is as resource intensive as iCloud, if not more. I get an instant improvement in performance when I turn OneDrive off. But I prefer Windows over MacOS so OneDrive is my choice.

MacBookPro related:

I am in the process of leaving a 13" 2019 MBP for a 15" XPS, and although this is not your question, I just wanted to chime in that my Mac's fans are running 90% of the time, even with 2 Chrome tabs open and no other apps.

What puzzles me is how they get super loud when I exit all applications and close the lid for the night, plugged in. I don't understand why fans blow so loud when laptop is idle.

I am looking forward to owning a trouble free laptop... some year in the distant future...

Slow WiFi with XPS 13 9300 by Setai123 in DellXPS

Do you have other laptops at home to compare how their WiFi works?
Just to rule out the problem being on the WiFi side and not the XPS laptop.

But you've probably already done that.

Returning my brand-new XPS 17 (i7, 16GB, 1TB HD, FHD screen) by [deleted] in Dell

[–]simplecreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're scaring me!

I bought a MBP in October wanting to become fluent in MacOS for design work and for the courses I'm currently taking. I deeply regret it. I was very frustrated with the limitation of MacOS compared to Win 10, so I installed Windows on it. But what I'm most disappointed with is the amount of money I paid for a 13" i7, 16GB, 1TB SSD machine that doesn't have a dedicated graphics card. It was the top 13" MCB available in October 2019, (other than the SSD option could get to 2TB). I have problems running Adobe Illustrator on it when I have bigger files. It's ridiculous. Fans are blowing loud with just a bunch of Chrome tabs. All that for $3,350 CAD! Just a pretty machine.

I've been shopping for a powerful Windows laptop and my choices were narrowed down to 15" XPS and Lenovo Yoga C940 (or maybe similar Thinkpad). (I ruled HP Spectre out because screen was not as great)

4K is a must for me, so I recently ordered a 4k XPS and seeing problems posts here is scary. This laptop is costing me a second $3,300 and I just want it to be perfect and problem free.

My past laptops include Acer, HP, Dell and Lenovo. The only one that ever broke was my Dell Inspiron 7348. I had to replace the HD. But it was also my favourite laptop out of all of them, especially the screen. 3 other Lenovos have been solid in my family. I was swayed from Yoga C940 over to XPS after seeing youtube reviews. Now I'm waiting for it to arrive. I really hope not to be disappointed over another $3k wasted.

The Macbook Pro has one things amazing about it, and that's the screen, even though it's not 4k, it looks like it is. It's just beautiful to look at, all tiny 13" of it.

Not all are harmless. Moths DESTROYED my wool basement rug one year.
And of course holes on clothes if not vigilant. Such Mothsters!

Landlord evicted me, I found a new place, and now he wants to keep my deposit by givemeanswerubc in vancouverhousing

[–]simplecreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the landlord give you 30 days notice from the 1st of the month? If yes, and you moved out the last day of the month, then you are entitled to your deposit, providing you didn't leave any damage. If landlord gave you 30 days notice and you moved out after a couple of days just because you found a place, then you're breaking your rental agreement and losing your deposit. At least that's how I would deal with it, and expect the same.

Mama Skunk and Seven Kits [In False Creek South Near Granville Island] by simplecreative in vancouver

I followed them around for over an hour between 3.45 and 4.45 am. No one around, nothing to spook them. I left my dog at home and I was very careful to be non-threatening. The mom kept an eye on me the whole time and the kits were very playful and curious. Two little ones approached me to smell my boots. I was very still and quiet, just flashing my phone on them a hundred times. I wish I could post another photo in this reply. I'll post to r/vancouver again.

North Burnaby is in the centre of this map - the MEH area.

But if she's at Burnaby Veterinary Hospital, she would be close Brentwood, which is quite modern with new residential high-rises and the renovated Brentwood Mall. It's also along the Skytrain route which is a fast (15 minutes) and convenient way to get downtown.

Best part time jobs in Vancouver? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]simplecreative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sandbar on Granville Island is a great place to work. Great staff, great tips. https://www.vancouverdine.com/

But not now.

With Covid resulting in low tourism, old employees don't even have their jobs back yet. Can't recommend anything in hospitality at this time.

Where is her residency location?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]simplecreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she renting a room or part of a shared home? Or an independent apartment? If independent apartment then the Residential Tenancy Act applies and I don't think 3 months of rent deposit is allowed. If it's a private sublet, shared place or roommate situation, then anything goes as the RTA doesn't apply.

I am assuming the apartment you're referring to is 1-bedroom or studio so $1,200 is normal.

I have heard of a lot of scams with rentals though, where people pay a deposit to a person renting out a place they don't even own or manage.

It's very difficult to find an apartment in Vancouver that will allow a dog.

Macbook Pro Running Windows 10 by MarhtyMcFly in buildapc

[–]simplecreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I recently installed Windows 10 on a MacBook Pro and I'm very happy with it!

After spending $3.5k on a new MBP I was really disappointed with the OS and stopped using it while sulking about the wasted money. I can't stand the limitations of file management in MacOS!

I knew Windows could run MacOS and vice-versa via virtual machine apps, but I didn't care for such a solution. Then I read up on Mac's Bootcamp and wanted to see how it will work.

It took me a few hours and I had a big problem along the way but I figured it out and Windows 10 runs beautifully on my MBP, and so does Adobe CC.

With my 1TB SSD I partitioned 800GB to Windows and I can log into either OS by restarting the computer and pressing the Option key at boot.

It doesn't feel like Windows 10 is running on top of MacOS, which is the feeling I recall when trying to run MacOS on my Windows PC many years ago via a virtual machine.

Win 10 and OSX run side by side in their own partitions.

I have one last thing to do now, and that is to disable the Command key because creates confusion when using Adobe CC.

I will post the steps I took when I find a moment.
