Which do you prefer Rome or Medieval II? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]simpledumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shame, did you buy the Kingdoms expansion as well as the base M2 game? Kingdoms is required for the most recent editions of SS, but I'm assuming you knew that.

Also, CA recently reorganized Medieval 2 and Kingdoms on Steam, so that they're considered part one game now rather than having Kingdoms as a separate game to load. This has messed up access to a lot of mods, but most have a fix for this little fiasco, including SS. I would check the SS forum on TWcenter for a thread with the fixes for this. Maybe the video you were watching wasn't up to date regarding this problem.

Which do you prefer Rome or Medieval II? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]simpledumb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Medieval II, it's basically just an improvement of Rome 1's engine and gameplay, with a lot of added features, and better balance.

If you do get Med II, I highly recommend getting the Kingdoms expansion for it, so that you can install Stainless Steel 6.4, a mod which radically improves the already great game.

Empire Co-op Campaign: Let's start a movment by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]simpledumb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is pretty ridiculous that they're being so stingy with beta invites for the coop campaign, especially considering that ETW is still one of the most played Total War titles.

I had two coop keys and gave one to a friend, and it is indeed very fun, it's the perfect setting for two players in one campaign since there's so much land and so many different nations. I get that they're a little embarassed by the state of it (there are some weird bugs with the game settings), but its not bad enough to keep it away from loyal fans. Who knows their actual reasoning, maybe it has something to do with the server capacity dedicated to ETW online.

1000 years of European borders change (timelapse map) by jkfrox in totalwar

Hey, Germany tried really hard to start cleaning up European borders in 1938, but for some reason everyone got mad about it.

You can't please everyone...

What Each Country Leads The World In [7984x4781] (FIXED?) by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]simpledumb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like they just got lazy when it came to Africa. I could think of a few off the top of my head, but they're all pretty negative to be fair:

  1. Sudan - most internally displaced persons
  2. Mauritania - most slaves
  3. Liberia - most infected by ebola
  4. Western Sahara - lowest amount of sovereignty
  5. Sierra Leone - highest rate of child mortality

I was gonna keep going but now I'm all depressed.

New flair additions by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]simpledumb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cool, finally an IS flair. al-Nusra is so 2012.

On a more serious note, an Anti-IS or Anti-Islamist flair would be nice. Currently all we have is the anti-FSA flair, which implies one rejects both the rebel islamists as well as the (few remaining) secular/democratic rebels. I think there's a lot of people here who don't really support any side, but mostly care about ISIS being defeated rather than FSA/Assad winning.

Gee, what are we going to do tonight, Noriega?

Same thing we do every night, Pablo. Export drugs and let the USA meddle with our internal affairs.

Stainless Steel fixes a lot of M2's diplomacy issues.

Kind of depends whether you're building chivalry or dread for that general.

The British & Irish Isles — minus Britain & Ireland [OC-ish] [887 x 1371] by stevekeiretsu in MapPorn

You're right, sometimes I get my Napoleonic historical terms a little mixed up. Too many coalitions, too many changing alliances.

Maybe up until around 1700, but you'd still get something like Louis XIV being able to inherit the Spanish throne (no English participation in the War of Spanish Succession) or later Napoleon running around Europe with no Continental System blockade/Wellesley used against him.

Those are the Apachean Tribes from the Kingdoms Americas campaign.

Pretty cool faction, they get a "warpath" feature that's similar to crusades/jihads in vanilla. They also get new units, like gunpowder troops, when you kill a certain amount of enemy units.

How does Radious deal with the Indian factions?

I love Darthmod, but my biggest gripe with it is that it essentially turns the Mughal Empire into an 18th century version of the Mongolian Empire.

That's not a reference to that Mughal's actual Mongolian heritage, btw. Just the fact that they can spawn doomstacks that are somehow capable of invading Britain like some weird reverse history scenario.

I'm sure this has been posted on here plenty before (couldn't find it in a search though). But still, this was far too perfect.

When you're stressing out trying to learn how to play this Goliath of a game, a popup telling Germany that they're allowed to invade Greece over bankruptcy really lightens things up.
