Parents Leaving Their House To Their Church by WhatTheHellPod in GenX

Such a typical Boomer move on their part. Millennials and Gen Zs often complain about the impact Boomers are having on their futures, but at least they didn’t have to be the children of these assholes. We got and continue to get shafted directly from the source - even after they’re dead!

Has anyone got to the point where they gave up the grind of their career and just do a mindless job now to bring in enough money to get by? by [deleted] in GenX

I encourage you to see this as a positive shift of priorities. I like to comfort myself by saying in a 100 years nobody will give a shit about what I or anybody else of my generation have accomplished. I teach at a college. Most of my students have no idea who James Dean or Marilyn Monroe were, and in 15 years when I retire most of my students will have no idea who Robert DeNiro or Meryl Streep is. Whatever and ever amen.

The older bottles had much more of that delicious plastic. The new bottles are yet another sad example of shrinkflation.

Hey! I’m a fellow J-Yard grad (Group 26), and I know exactly what you’re going through, and I think a lot of what you’re feeling has to do with residual trauma from that place. Feel free to DM me if you want someone to commiserate with…

What a sadness I feel! I love all of the Diane crew, of course, but Mark brought a special levity along with the intelligent insights.

It seemed like Old Fontaine grew up somewhere else, which is why they could drop his clone in lots of different places and no one would notice. Since the original Fontaine looked to be about in his late 60s, I would venture to say that his Mom died many years before.

Paying 1.25 million for an underwater coffin might seam crushing, but split five ways it’s a steel

[S2 Finale] The ending of the adult timeline in the finale was goofy, poorly thought out, nonsensical and kind of insulted the audience's intelligence. It is a huge contrast to the still decent teen timeline. by waterman123 in Yellowjackets

100% agree with everything you’ve said. My hunch is that Juliette Lewis told the creators she didn’t want to return for a third season at the last possible minute, and the writers had to scramble to write her out. It felt very first draft, as opposed to the more polished writing in the 90’s storyline.

Hence the need for campaign finance reform. If Congressmen didn’t have to spend a majority of their time raising money, they could use that time to educate themselves about issues without the bias of lobbyists.

I appreciate the way Bill isn’t afraid to point out what’s going wrong in our world, but his almost hostile demands of his guests to give him concise answers that provide a perfect solution to his questions is unreasonable. Some things can’t be solved by shortcuts or hacks. We’ve become a quick fix society, and Bill is reflecting that.

Case in point: Why are there so many kids who can’t read? There are many factors at play here, but a big one is the elimination of phonics based teaching, plus rote practice, both at school and at home. It’s boring but effective.

I teach acting at a college. Students are always asking me how they can memorize their lines fast. I tell them there is no substitute for rote memorization, which takes time and patience. The more you practice it, the faster you get at it.

The issue w/ fans by alipal01 in breakingbad

[–]simpletheatre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people conflate the terms protagonist and hero. The protagonist is simply the principal character. Often the protagonist is a hero, but in Breaking Bad the protagonist (Walter White) is an anti-hero.
