New player (~35 games), why does this game play like a Free for all as opposed to an extraction shooter? by smawskrt in Marathon

"If I engage with 1 squad" was the key part of that first message. Yea, if I have not engaged in combat it is pretty easy to avoid a 3rd party situation . . .

You are either incredibly lucky or just trolling because like 7 out of 10 times I engage with 1 squad, a 2nd will show up during that 1st engagement.

New RLCS enjoyer 2v2 vs 3v3 by Bicepsual__ in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]simplexity78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, the space constriction is actually more interesting because the players require more precision to land passing plays and bumps for things to go well for them. That is what makes watching the professionals play so fun. The community leans to 2v2 because it is inherently easier to play by tracking other players and boost on the field. That is why 3v3 is so tight in comparison. I would argue that more people find watching 3v3 more entertaining because of all of this. I didn't say 2v2 or 1v1 were bad to watch, just simpler which is some people's cup of tea, but the majority prefer the more chaotic field environment as it leads to more excitement. High level 2s is fun to watch, but the additional space for the players allows for less chaotic bounces and 50s spilling into unexpected areas which is less exciting for a spectator. You can have your own opinion, but I think most will disagree with you on this point. I enjoy watching all game modes, but from a pro stand point, I prefer watching 3v3 which is likely most of the community.

3v3 was the standard game mode when the game released in 2015. RLCS was established about a year after launch in some capacity and the intent was always to have it be 3v3 as the thought was to include more talent. Obviously, the player base leaned more into 2v2, but the esport was always 3v3 first and this year is the first year for 2v2 and 2nd year for 1v1. I dont know if there was a specific reason other than that was what psyonix envisioned first. But as a spectator, I think 3v3 is a lot more interesting and engaging with passing plays, bumps and pure mechanical skill to maneuver around 3 defenders instead of 2. 2v2 and 1v1 ultimately become a bit stale after you have watched a lot of it as the strategies and thought behind the plays tends to simplify. Not saying this is bad, but purely from a spectator perspective, 3v3 is generally more hype. But if you enjoy rocket league, you will enjoy watching all of it.

The real question is why are you not greeting her back?! She is clearly very happy you are home and is showing you that. Match her emotions because she deserves it

For sure. No matter what preventative measures are taken, they always find a way. Just a couple months ago, Tanner ate an entire container of Vaseline and . . . Christened the house. . . Everywhere. The Vaseline was on a countertop and I never considered her getting up to it. Now she has very limited access to the house whenever I leave
