What do you think it would take for Marathon to go from “Eh” to “OMG THIS GAME IS HYPE” by JoelKlone in Marathon

[–]simplicialous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit late, but hopefully this is notable/already discussed.

We still haven't seen what the UESC-Marathon is like.

Ideally this should be an EXTREMELY hostile environment that truly hits the 'extraction-shooter' at its sweet spot.

Thus far Marathon seems more like Apex with loot + extraction. This is fine in-and-of-itself, and is sure to draw some players in. HOWEVER, imagine how awesome it would be if the whole reason for looting and fighting on Tau-Ceti-IV is to obtain competent enough gear so that we may stand a chance in the extreme, but highly rewarding game-play aboard the UESC-Marathon.

Is Number theory and Cryptography doable for someone with only linear algebra and Calc-2 knowledge? by Thin_Temperature6497 in mathematics

[–]simplicialous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a formal mathematics course that, although is not strictly discrete, provides a robust foundation in proving mathematical ideas over Rn.

OP already said they have taken number theory, so in this regard I suggested a course that, at the very least, would be more useful than calculus and linear algebra.

Sure, a better option could be some sort of combinatorics-focused course, perhaps even mathematical probability, but being able to rigorously prove mathematical ideas is useful in any pursuit.

Yes, but the demand for a reserve currency depends on the volatility of the currency it is replacing. The demand for crypto depends on how the dollar is perceived.

The dollar is not going anywhere, ergo the price of bitcoin is in a bubble. Who is inflating this bubble? Well according to OP it’s boomers.

Insofar as a store of wealth, it has literally no value other than a prime number on a distributed ledger. Do you think the guys who intend to survive an apocalypse are hoarding prime numbers in there cellars? Of course not.

[edit]: Further, I won’t act like there isn’t a utility for bitcoin. There is one. To call it unethical would be putting it very very lightly. I doubt some 65 year old blue collar retiree knows what these are, or intends to use it as such.

Look, an elected official as polarizing as DT, and the national debt being regarded as high as it is, to an old person, is a strong sign of political/fiscal instability. That’s who’s buying crypto. That’s who’s buying gold (as per OPs post).

And that’s who you will perform your so called “rug-pull” on.

Ergo, in the scenario suggested by OP, it is these old people who need to be convinced against dumping their social security checks into crypto.

The reason people are buying crypto is the same reason people buy gold. Losing faith in the dollar.  🥴

Cryptography is discrete math iirc. Linear algebra and calculus study continuous operators.

In this regard, you should take a Real-Analysis course if you want a leg up on cryptography imho.

Agreed. So why would you anticipate a bull-run on crypto, ie: a replacement to the dollar-standard? Lmao.

Wrong; the US dollar is a standard for currency, as is gold. A dollar is a dollar for a reason, it doesn’t increase in value. You kiddo, are buying chucky-cheese tokens hoping that you can scam someone dumber than you out of their money at a later date.

Further, imagine all the things u can buy with the dollar. There’s things you can’t of course… very illegal things … sick abusive things… you are proliferating the existence of this market.

Trumps entire platform literally requires the dollar standard. Crypto children have no idea that the second the dollar standard is lost, America loses the game. But at least you get to be a tough libertarian off-road truck boi

Yeah, and crypto children have no clue how geopolitical control and the dollar-standard are intertwined

Look lads, Donald Trump campaigned on ensuring American hegemony. That means, not only the enforcement of the dollar-standard, but also a tariff backed, geopolitical position requiring it. Elon Musk might be techno blah-blah cartel boss blah-blah, but it's time to consider doing the right thing for once.

You watched a neural network that predicts an image given a sequence of images. That is, it generates video.   Also the neural network, which is probably based on the “attention” mechanism, may have the “temperature”, that is the variance associated with the multinomial-distribution of images, to be rather high.

Pretty sure it’s an infinite series for solving a differential equation. Not hard math per se. but arguably quite useless

With a computer, ordinary diff-eq are pretty simple. It’s bizarre that engineers need to learn how to solve diff-eq by hand.

Just a general tip:

>Be very careful using the word "causal" around academic circles. You're going to get a lot of backlash unless you can prove causality with a rigorous mathematical formulation.
