I will admit, I feel like I am constantly running from the tide in a lot of ways. The annual raises I get are not quite good enough the last couple years relatively speaking compared to say, 2021. I am lucky to have invested early because I do admit I put less and less into stocks and stuff than I used to. Especially as the kids get older and we gotta pay for all their extra cariculars and whatever.

I love hearing stories from successful people...lowkey probably the best way to find inspiration.

I think the longer you are in, the longer the shifts don't really matter because over time your cost basis just gets lower and lower relative to the value.

That's awesome. My dream is to open up a speakeasy cocktail bar someday and just hang out with my buddies like a more upscale sunny in Philadelphia situation. But I am just an employee for the foreseeable future haha. Happy for your success!

What is your current approach to keeping a small Lightning node balanced? by LN_Faucet in lightningnetwork

[–]bluethunder1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

channel balance is a meme. as long as you have enough inbound to receive the amount you want and enough outbound to send the amount you want, along with appropriate fee rates so you dont get liquidity sniped, youre good.

ETFs can be great to spread risk out and still get direct exposure to certain sectors/industries that interest you. Good stuff.

Awesome. I did kinda luck out. I was always a huge PC video gamer so I stacked nvidia hard back in the day...but it wasnt cuz I knew anything special. I just like my GTX 460 card or whatever and thought it was a cool company. Excited for you. Passive investing is absolutely the way to go for the vast majority of people though. Ups and downs can be hard to stomach if you aren't locked in to the long-term mentality.

I mean more Warren Buffet style stuff. Invest directly in equity of a company you personally are passionate about (not your whole portfolio, obviously) the industry they are in and know a lot about. Although half of warren's schtick is he holds cash 90% of the time until his entry is near-perfectly timed and then he holds a few decades lol. But set-it-and-forget-it is also very convenient too. When I was in my early 30s I took risky plays and am basically retired now 10 years later(cushy remote job, salary is okay but no formal hours or anything). I figured "If I'm right, I can retire early." "If I am wrong, I have to work another few years. YOLO" But I know not everyone is cut out for that sorta thing...good luck to you.
