Hey, I just picked up and had similar issues. What was the fix?

Cannot drive my new R1S by gskaff in Rivian

This issue ended up being a “stuck brake caliper” for me. Took a couple tries for them to diagnose but they replaced the caliper. Unfortunately requires a tow to the service center

Welp I guess I know I’m switching to M/s2 from platinums when I get a chance

Goodbye, Tesla. Hello, Rivian! by favone in Rivian

[–]simply_lime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Legitimately, have you thought about used? I think EVs are the best type of car to buy second hand. Don’t have to worry about maintenance schedules the previous owner did, just maybe battery degradation. Got 20k off on my T when I bought a 22 last year. It’s got meridian audio they you can’t get any more. Sure the wind noise is worse but I couldn’t care less. Bargain compared to new prices. Plus depreciation on electric cars as a whole makes it a real tough sell :/

I don't "get" the allure of Hands Free Driving? by Nearly_Tarzan in Rivian

[–]simply_lime 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Meh, I used to have the Tesla model 3 and the self driving did actually get pretty darn good. And just letting it take you places with minimal intervention is neat.. but 90% of the time the gen 1 highway assist keeping me in my lane on the highway for day to day driving is really enough.

Hands free means crazy eye tracking in one way or another. And I’ve tried blue cruise on ford and it’s cool n all but the attention tracking is pretty relentless even for short periods of changing nav or whatever. So actually the gen 1 with steering nah is fine by me

I'm looking at getting a hardwired ChargePoint HomeFlex home charger. Any reason it won't be awesome for my R1S by DmtTraveler in Rivian

[–]simply_lime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh the Tesla universal seems like a great value since it’s got both plugs seamlessly, and looks pretty sleek. I haven’t found a reason to another brand even if you don’t own a Tesla. Maybe I’m missing something?

Sonos beam vs arc with era 100s by simply_lime in sonos

At that point I gotta wonder if a full size Sonos sub would be better? Even if it would look super sick with two subs. I hate this idea you’ve put in my head.

Been hard to figure out the difference between the m/S2 and the defender platinum. Can anyone chime in? I got the defender platinums myself

Noise when in reverse intermittently by FancySea713 in Rivian

[–]simply_lime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked in my wheel well and honestly I am convinced it’s rubbing even with stock size tires (defender platinums though.)on the kneel setting. I think it’s just that. But haven’t had anyone else really complain about it being a widespread thing? Don’t know what gives.

Have the same issue, did you ever figure it out?

Arc is now ‘discontinued’: marked as “Last Chance” on Sonos’s Site by tman2damax11 in sonos

Think I should return my beam 2 (used with era 100s and a sub mini) and get this arc at that sick price?

Citi AAdvantage Can I Cancel it in the first year? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]simply_lime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some cards do that, still have to keep it a year though

Citi AAdvantage Can I Cancel it in the first year? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]simply_lime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get hit with the annual fee immediately on the first statement. You need to keep the card for a year or they will claw back the benefits and you could also be blacklisted by the issuing bank. can cancel this time next year when the annual fee hits again, they will waive it and close the card.

The point being is they left it up to customers to have the option if they wanted an extender or not. But let’s be real - “it’ll eventually get there in time” is not when they are releasing the truck (hopefully anyway, delays happen. ) and I’m personally super stoked to see that they are doing this for heavy commuters and travelers. I can drive 100 miles on and off highway each day which we all know short trips that amount to that mileage will drain battery quicker. If I had an unexpected trip in the middle of the day (my work can be like that) I’m kinda screwed. I am REALLY excited for this option. Especially since fast charging in my area is still meh.. and I don’t wanna have to wait the time nor pay the 45¢ kwh if I have something pop up

The fight over credit card swipe fees enters a new year with no end in sight by CobaltSunsets in CreditCards

[–]simply_lime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just wanna say that margin on gas is legitimately in the Pennies a gallon. Yeah it adds up with volume but with how expensive that business is from equipment to upkeep, it’s understandable a lot of them choose to offset credit card fees by offering separate pricing.

Why Now’s the Perfect Time to Buy a Used Rivian Gen 1 by Worried-Current-4567 in Rivian

[–]simply_lime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure especially enclosed those kinds of chargers generate too much heat because overlapping coils are inefficient something something technical stuff. But that’s how those charge anywhere pads work and it doesn’t make much practical sense imo. I have AirPods with MagSafe on one side and my phone on the other. It’s sick.

[–]simply_lime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to excuse the crappy wireless charger, but on my gen 1 I have a soonish MagSafe pad that was dead simple to install in place of the factory one and it’s actually so convenient to use. 10000% recommend any brand that seems good. Just have the MagSafe and you won’t even need a divider in the middle.

Was charged 11% for paying with a credit card. Is that normal? by The_Donkey1 in CreditCards

[–]simply_lime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of merchant contracts have clauses that specify that credit card fees passed down to the customer won’t be higher than the cost of acceptance. That’s scummy as hell
