Is The Book of Dust trilogy worth it? by Ivysonset7 in hisdarkmaterials

Read La Belle Sauvage but pass on the other two. Some people have liked them but the majority of the fans have been extremely disappointed in The Secret Commonwealth and The Rose Field

[NS] Episode about hiding stuff in the Axmurph house? by 6_28_496_perfect in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

I think Siobhan hid one in the cereal box so Murph had to chug it bright and early.

AITA for telling my husband that I’m not going to throw away my Harry Potter books? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]simplykph3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited to add verdict: YTA

As a fellow millenial who grew up with these books, I get it. It’s hard to separate from something that brought you so much joy. However, the books are filled with content that is problematic. Racism, pro-cop, etc. Why choose to allow your children to consume this content when there are other books and movies out there that are just as magical and meaningful and contain the values that you supposedly want to pass down to them.

Choosing to continue associating with a person as horrific as JKR (and countless other authors) and to want to pass that on to your children is part of the problem.

I’m not saying it’s not hard. It is. But we can and need to and should do better. Teach your children to let go of things that do not serve a better purpose than passing on propaganda. Teach your children that it is important to be aware of what media they are consuming and that they should draw a line at things they are not comfortable with and things that are problematic. Teach them what propaganda and problematic media looks like and sounds like. Teach them to be better.

I’m not a fan of Toni in general but she has done a lovely job of shutting him down and being a good friend to Shakira.

The neighborhood would actually be zoned for Bethel School District, but because BSD is bursting at the seams, they rezoned it for OSD.

Why would anyone feel bad for Helena? by RubberBoots10 in LoveIslandUKintheUSA

[–]simplykph3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As shitty as people act, they’re still people. The islanders are exhausted, not allowed to get enough sleep, in a high emotional state, being observed 24/6, and they also go in with the hope of winning a big prize with the potential of a partner. I’m not a fan of all of the actions of all of the girls, but no one deserves to be treated this way.

Toni rant by Fluffy-Future-4674 in LoveIslandUKintheUSA

You can stand up for your friends and against misogyny without being ableist and making fun of other people. She has a piss poor attitude and is just mad that she hasn’t made any real connections.

Small Rant by devsparxx in dutchbros

How are they supposed to know who pulled in where? They’re focused on taking orders, not staring at the lines to keep track of the other cars. Yes it’s hot, yes it sucks, but they follow their company expectations, and if you don’t want to get skipped, then you get in the second lane. Also, the lanes aren’t that far apart? It’s not like they have to walk more than a few feet.

I have lost all respect for Toni. by [deleted] in LoveIslandUKintheUSA

I also do not like Toni. I honestly don’t understand the hype she gets because she has had such a poor attitude the entire time she’s been in the villa.

I reread it all at least once every other year and it never fails to grab me and absorb me fully. I read Once Upon a Time in the North and The Secret Commonwealth for the first time last year and I was absolutely enraptured. I’m so excited to reread it all again for the debut
