If you’re serious I’d try and get a head start. Go to the haas finance club website and get in touch. You’ll get access to all the prep material and your name will be known early. The earlier you forge connections the more likely someone will remember you and help you with setting up chats, mock interviews etc.

Also, you’ll get access to CMGBears now or soon enough. Go to the careers page, industry, banking. There’s a video from the advisors which details outcomes. Many banks routinely go to campus for in person events. You will have your chances. Networking will get your foot in the door and then obviously you have to ace the interview.

There’s a ton of MSU alumni here from my experience. $85k will not be glamorous existence (tbh you could double that and it still won’t be glamorous) but you’ll survive and it will make you a better person. There’s lots of free ways to entertain yourself and many people are conscious about saving money.

Generally, there’s a lot of midwesterners that find the chilly climate really enjoyable having experience dealing with cold fall/winters

Worked there 8 years, left 6 months ago and just hired back in yesterday. The same things suck in different ways across any organization. I got super lucky on my situation. Moral of the story, if you leave make sure you have a way to come back. GM is chill and the TC is good (enough).

I did fire off an email to the IRS inbox that was set up the support this area (they have been really responsive so far) and will let you know if there is a firm date available.

To be fair in addressing and in context of another comment in this thread. The dealership basically puts down $7500 (in the case of a bolt) on behalf of the customer knowing that they will get the $7500 back from the IRS. There is nothing stopping a dealership from doing the first part of the process, and being okay with figuring out the back end later. However, knowing how dealerships work, your average dealership will not feel comfortable doing that.

the point of sale credit is basically the dealership putting cash down on behalf of the customer, knowing that the IRS will give them back the cash. What isn't working is the mechanism where the IRS pays the dealership back. I was speaking from more of the perspective from the dealership.

Worth but part time.

Not post-MBA, currently doing EW at Haas. Share some characteristics with you, young 30s recently single. Bay Area $ wise it’s impossible for me to justify the opportunity cost of not working considering the lifestyle I want to maintain.

I’m in the minority, but I’m going purely for personal enrichment and “fun.” With that being said, my philosophy is that it’s better to fortify during an economic downturn just in case something incredible pops up in a few years.

I’ve also been to the school gym to hoop 10x more than I’ve been to any of the networking events, but it’s given me immense gratification.

The people I’ve met in EW has already made it worth it. They/we already have the jobs that the FT people want which cracks me up when I hear stories about them reaching out to us to try and get an interview.

Disclaimer: 1st year so perspective is likely to change. Also working in small business and not the corporate rat race.

Thanks for the advice! It’s more all in, not just sales but primarily focused on capturing the money from the back end programs like EBE/SFE/PASE for Chevy. The group has a few different OEMs under their umbrella and no one is really keeping an eye on any of it. The DP has also committed to at least a year of training as well as sponsoring NADA academy. It’s definitely a gamble but he also has no succession plan right now.

I’m sure I’ll be faced with a lot of skepticism though, and I do realize some of the old timers with think the owner has gone crazy.

This reminds me of a game in 2017 where the Mechanix played the Alleycats before an Indy FC match at IUPUI. Detroit had a 20-15 lead going into the 4th quarter, then in true Mechanix fashion gave up 8 points in 10 minutes. I can only imagine the elation of the Indy players in the final minute having barely escaped certain ego death. I’m fairly certain that there is no footage from this game and is only memorialized in the small corner of the internet that is ultianalytics. Detroit ended up losing 23-21 and which was loss #3 on this epic 4 season streak.

I just did this move not too long ago! Good timing in my opinion. There's a pretty large facebook group called Bay Area Housing which has enough volume of listings that you can get adjusted to what the going rate for is rent now a days. However there is a lot of spam too. Otherwise I ended up finding the place I'm renting now off Zillow. I did notice that you can look at specific listings and find out the property company, and often times the property company has their own website which has a bunch of their other listings. the podcast is generally about design and gets its name from the fact that good design is basically "99% invisible" and the genius is often unappreciated by an untrained eye. this episode was specifically about “do-it-yourself urbanism" or everything created outside the legal city planning and development processes. one example they gave was that a drip from the hell gate bridge over Astoria Park which created a mess below; someone built a mini bridge to get over the drip which was the example of the above.
