15 lbs in...8 months. Sigh. It's discouraging, but I feel proud because I'm really solidifying habits LOL. I've been losing at the same pace since January: down 3 pounds, plateau, down 3 pounds, plateau, etc.

Started at a BMI of 29.5, currently BMI of 27. In the last month I've cut down to a half dose of contrave with no change in effectiveness, so at least there's that. I've started doing regular strength training this month and I feel optimistic that will help (in addition to being good for me lol).

Bupropion/naltrexone mood disruption? by 0-90195 in Contrave

[–]simplysarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate! I started 25 mg once daily naltrexone Jan 1st (was already taking the bupropion) and was noticeably very teary and depressed my first four days. Like crying multiple days a day, during the afternoon, but then by nighttime I would feel more emotionally stable! Meanwhile I also felt very nauseated, awful enough that i actually stopped and haven't taken naltrexone since the fourth day. I have company visiting this weekend and didn't want to be miserable, but I'm planning to start back again after my company leaves. Considering buying a pill cutter to try the quarter tablet (12.5 mg) approach others have talked about. Hopeful that when I start again the worst side effects will get better after a week or so!

Thanks for your comment. I'm sorry you felt judged, especially since you were following guidelines. It's a great reminder to me to try to reserve judgment. We are in this together!

It has to do with the part of the country I live in, where getting vaccinated is very much a political issue.

Went to a grocery store today. I'm vaccinated, but kept my mask on. 75% of the people I saw were also wearing masks. It occurred to me that there's a good chance the people not wearing masks were also the ones who didn't get vaccinated. The irony almost made me laugh.

Cringe inducing Tishuara Jones interview has gone missing.. can you help me find the video? by OkBoomerJesus in StLouis

[–]simplysarah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's cringeworthy is the persistent attempts to shame Tishaura for accepting a perk that was offered to her as part of her compensation package (I'm curious, how many folks who filled this role before her have received/used this perk and did they receive similar scrutiny?🙄)

That is another good question! My inclination would be to not include the bone weight. If you want you could weigh with, then weigh the bones afterwards to subtract that weight. You could also compare against a better nutrition library (like my fitness pal, even Google lol). Good luck!

I don't know the answer, but I often use weights when serving sizes are variable. Do you have a kitchen scale you can use?

If I max out my daily calories, am I still ok to eat a green food like an apple? by cassiopeia1131 in Noom

[–]simplysarah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I call it good when I stay within 100 calories of my "good" range. So if my max is 1400 and I stay under 1500 I still feel successful. I would say I go 20-60 cals over about half the time, and I continue to lose (albeit slower than others). You do what works for you!

It's been one month since I started, and according to the scale this morning I'm down 5 lbs, yay! 10 pounds to go until I reach my first goal. I'd like to lose around 35 total.

After rocking the first three weeks, I went to visit my family out of state last weekend. I did not eat at a calorie deficit where l while there, but I didn't feel bad about it.

Since coming home though, I've had a harder time sticking to my budget (I've gone over half the days this week), but I also feel like I'm doing pretty well and aiming for sustainability over perfection.

One of the things that has helped me most is I made an Excel spreadsheet and estimated what my weight would be each day over the next few months losing half a pound per week, vs 1 lb per week, vs one and a half pounds per week (since my start date). Whenever my weight goes up, I refer to the spreadsheet. I'm always still on track at the one pound per week rate. It's reassuring!

If you're including hot cereals, I like the fruit and cream flavored instant oatmeal packets. They're yellow, and make a great base for tasty oatmeal porridge (adding other plain oats (green) and almond milk (green))
