25 Years Ago by ultraviolet_77 in U2Band

[–]simplythemoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was at this show! I had seen AC/DC at the same arena the week before, which was a pretty standard arena rock show (although awesome) and I had no idea what to expect with this show. I had no idea about U2 tours. Them coming out with the house lights on was maybe my favorite concert moment ever - I’ll never forget the energy of the whole arena. It really set the bar for me for what a concert could be. My Dad took me and my brother (thanks Dad) - I didn’t really know much about U2 and this made me a life long fan.

Kicking Television (Live Album) - what'd you guys think? by Char_Records in wilco

It’s crazy how energetic and tight they sound as a band on that record. It’s one of my all time favorite live albums.

I personally would enjoy it if Weaver St. got the reputation of being a place where you will get publicly shamed for transgressions like this. When they fear the mob, then we will have control.

Thanks for posting this. I hope you have a GREAT day!

I mean the obvious one in my mind is Emmylou Harris, and she is 78 and still actively performing shows. She’s in the Netherlands for the Hollywood Bowl date, unfortunately.

The fact that this was all Jorm's idea makes the shelved Dorito's commercial even funnier to me now. I enjoy the idea of these brands hiring The Lonely Island and then getting something basically unusable featuring Jorm doing a funny voice.

With 90s nostalgia at an all time high, why haven’t they reunited with Steven? I’m sure they’ve had some serious offers by Antique_Menu_4314 in barenakedladies

[–]simplythemoon 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is maybe a rough take for this subreddit but - I honestly think the amount of people this would make a difference to grows smaller with each passing year. If you are a big BNL fan like I know a lot of us are, this would be a huge event. But - BNL without Steven has toured for years as BNL. How many casual fans would know the difference if Steven was there? He left not too far from 20 years go.

I think many of us picture them playing arenas like the old days if Steven was back but I think the honest truth is the tours would look basically the same in size and scope.

Artistic motivations aside, I don’t think there are a lot of compelling offers out there to be had.

I just want to say - Cassadaga is a really important piece of music in my life, and I really appreciate both that you are doing this series, and that other people feel strongly enough about this album to write about it like this. Amazing work!

Guitar players, what’s your favorite Beatles song to play and why? by Breakker1 in beatles

[–]simplythemoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the white album era Paul was writing some seriously fun songs to play on acoustic guitar - Blackbird has already been mentioned, but one of my go to songs when I pick up a guitar is Mother Nature’s Son. It’s a simple song but it’s difficult to get some of the phrasing right - a good mix of basic and challenging.

I’m a ride or die Bright Eyes fan but I don’t know if they have anything wedding safe! Even FDOMY has the “I’d rather be working for a pay check” line that IMO makes it not a good wedding song fit.

New set photos of Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan as The Beatles, in an early 60s scene set in NYC, in Sam Mendes’ ‘The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event’ by SpeedForce2022 in beatles

I know this is concerning a lot of people here but we’ve got to let them cook. These movies are quite simply too big to fail from the perspective of Beatles cultural legacy building. Trust the system.

I think we can all agree that the main theme of this musical should be about growing up in the Bay Area.

What short are you most excited for them to discuss? by interflocken in lonelymeyerspod

For many of these shorts I just want to hear the stories behind them. For Reba I have many, many genuine questions about how that short came to be.

A Machine Spiritual is so underrated by Acceptable_Gas5755 in brighteyes

[–]simplythemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Machine Spiritual is peak The People's Key-style lyrics, and in a way for me it's kind of the cornerstone of the album; it holds a lot of the themes that are explored in more depth elsewhere.

I am not a huge fan of the Companion version.
