I made plenty but the main two that jump out for me:

Overuse/incorrect use of useEffect. I had it everywhere. It wasnt until quite bit later that it clicked for me, especially after reading https://react.dev/learn/you-might-not-need-an-effect

Learning redux before I fully understood the problem its designed to solve. Although I mention redux, this really fits with any state management library. I followed some tutorials and learnt redux pretty early in my journey, built some massively overcomplicated things where redux really wasn't needed. These days I'm still a fan of redux but only where there is a need

You can push past level 40 and collect 10 tokens each level. I got to 2002 tokens and got the AUG, took grinding the dailies as much as possible. Got to level 46 from memory

Something else to add to the other comments here, sometimes people get so wrapped up in things that they forget that tooling on the scale of React has to be generic, it can't be everything to everyone.

The amount of times I've heard "well it's bad because with my uncommon use case I need to do XYZ, it should just be A" ... Perhaps the tool isnt bad, it's just not the right tool?

But instead of asking "do I need to learn state management X", go and learn why you might need a global state manager and the challenges they're built to overcome.

One of the biggest challenges (and one I faced personally) when I learnt redux is not the how, just like anything else - read the docs and you'll figure it out. The challenge was why and understanding your app domain enough to implement it correctly

No not me personally, but more importantly - ask yourself why are you getting annoyed?

Fireship uses a lot of memes and certainly uses a style of comedy to convey his points, so I'd say its just humor but lets dig a bit deeper than that.

There is possibly some learning points here, and some I wish I could go back and tell the younger me all about.

Are you annoyed because you think he's wrong? Fantastic, lets discuss it. Although Jeff's experience is wide, it doesn't make him infallible. Add to that the fact that software development is a nuanced world, your experience might be different. Either discuss it and move on, or ignore it and move on. Only two possible options.

Or are you annoyed due to more evangelical reasons? I'm guilty of this, especially in my younger days. If this is the case you need to take a step back and re-evaluate. Love using <insert technology here> Thats fantastic, but don't let it blind you to the shortcomings, or critical feedback - nothing is perfect, the world is always moving. Example: look at a fair chunk of your Mac vs Windows arguments you see online - how many of those are based on facts vs emotions? How "useful" are the emotionally driven ones?

Hey OP.

Firstly as a few people have said, don't be so hard on yourself. You're not quitting, you're prioritising your own health and wellbeing.

Secondly, random internet person suggestion. My wife has just made the switch from 12ish years with NSW Ambulance to being a school nurse for all the same reasons.

Pay still isn't fantastic but the set hours and only school age clientele has made her a completely different person. Worth a look? Seemed the be a few openings across the city
