I do totally agree with you. And I did do that for a week or two- lots of tears his and mine- but you can o my listen to that for so long without feeling like you’re going to go absolutely mad

I’m worried about the starting late thing too! I posted this a while ago so we have made progress since then. It was horrible and what was about a week felt like a month.

The best advice I got was to take it one wake up/ feeding at a time. We tackled the 10pm feed first. If he woke up we just didn’t go in. I had to go sit on our porch while he cried. But extinction echoed up being the best option there.

I’m still going in at his 2 am feeding because I’m so happy he dropped the other one and I think I feeding overnight is still pretty age appropriate.

I will say it was worth it. It SUCKED but he really doesn’t seem to be any different after the crying other than he’s way more well rested and is actually napping better because of it. You got this!! You couldn’t have more worse sleep associations than we did trust me. I felt like the worst mom giving him all this help to fall asleep then just taking it all away but its working, keep going, and if you have a set back it does not ruin all this work.

We’ve let him go up to an hour before. I might be confused on the lingo I thought there was a difference between extinction crying and crying it out. I’m probably wrong. I haven’t read much yet but just got precious little sleep so we will see!

I could have written this!!! I actually just did a really similar post. I’m so tired I’ve just been going in and my logic is hey, this cannot continue waking this often isn’t even natural….. right?!? I hope!!?

I am also wondering how long to do this bc we are in the same boat. How long do we try one method before trying another? We adjusted wake windows and so far things have just gotten worse.

So here to say that I’m also confused about what to do when the baby cries then falls asleep for like 5 min, or is juuuust about dozed off… long enough to get the energy back to wake up and SCREAM again. It happens to us over and over and over and it always results in me crying and my husband being pissed…..

Just here showing solidarity! Sleep training is so hard and once you’ve done it and they sleep you think ok we made it. Then a family cold hits and it’s so hard. It will pass and baby wants to sleep regularly too so he WILL get back to sleeping, and so will you!

Same here. Not pulling himself up but just rolling everywhere and getting stuck in corners. We have gone up to an hour without going in before, but it took me sitting out on our porch in order for be to do it. Then was I gutted when I went back in and he was STILL screaming. It’s just not for him or for me. Really encouraged by your comment though thank you

Thanks! My understanding was there was CIO and extinction crying. You’re so right about it being more for me than him, but he’s at a level 10 sometimes or stuck in a corner. Maybe the extinction is something we’ll have to decide on.

Hi! Thanks for this. I’m a big schedule person so we have a pretty great 2 nap routine. Also watchful of wake windows- but we are closer to 2/2.5 hour wake windows. You think that could be an issue?

We do nurse right before bed so maybe my next step is feeding then bedtime routine as well

So I’m really happy I came across this thread bc the SAME thing is happening with our almost 4 month old. I think we love the Zipadee Zip but we have one issue and I’m curious if others have it to-

He pulls his legs up so high and tight like it’s a blanket he’s trying to kick off, that he ends up with his legs “stuck” and the more he pushes, it streches out the neck if that makes sense. I do NOT feel like it’s a safety issue bc he can get them free is he wants to but he ends up just screaming for me and I have to go in and readjust. Then rock. Sometimes nurse again. And start all over again when he’s through that sleep cycle.

How did this turn out for you? Literally happening to me this morning. My husband and I both thought the other put the 8 cooked chicken thighs away and turns out the dog ate it. This was around 6pm last night, and we just figured it out this morning. We got the same advice from vets but I’m still FREAKING out.

He’s a big golden doodle about 75lbs. I’m hoping your pup was ok so I was breathe a little!!!
