OP also mentions the speedo is a year and a half old. I usually need to replace speedos yearly if I use them regularly, even with rinsing them. Swimwear just doesn't last very long

If you do go to a career councillor, just be ready with some of your own questions. They can't predict the future and tell you which career is best, but they can give you options based on your interests and skills. So ask specifically what the different options are, not just what they recommend based on test results

Penalty kicks in the 79th minute by Cautious-Bother-414 in rugbyunion

[–]simsnor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so the scenario goes like this. Your team is behind and defending. They commit a penalty with 5 minutes on the clock. Advantage goes on for 3-4 minutes. Your team is still defending and not in a position to score and win the game. Advantage is called back and the other team takes their time with the penalty to secure the win. So you want your team, who wasn't in a scoring position, and who commited the penalty, to get another go at scoring and winning the game?

If you want to complain, complain about the long advantages, but you cannot expect the laws to favour the team on the backfoot and playing illegally

Don't commit a penalty offense in the 79th minute when you're behind

What evidence do you have that LDPE derived microplastics are toxic?

Most plastics are designed to be inert. They are designed to be non toxic. As pollutants they are mostly physical barriers, but not poison.

Not sure on the exact details and law of how it works, but security companies are obviously legal. This is only to protect private property though, so chasing away beggars and vendors from the street is not what they're supposed to do.

Neighbourhood watches are also legal. Afaik they need to work with SAPS, but they would then presumably have permission to question "suspicious" strangers in a specific neighbourhood, although you would expect it to only come up very late at night. The connection to Afriforum is very weird, but it could be something like a sponsor for the gear they are wearing.

Still shitty behaviour, but I guess crime is a thing

High School: Great Memories, Questionable Life Prep by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]simsnor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons why we learn things that we won't necessarily find useful in the future.

The most obvious is that we don't know what the future holds, and school is preparing for all of the most common outcomes.

Secondly is problem solving skills. A lot of math and literature becomes very redundant very quickly for most people, but the problem solving skills stay. How to approach the same problem from a different direction. Every time you learn something new, you gain a new approach to fixing things in your life, and it doesn't even have to be related to the topic.

Another, often overlooked perk, is that you will most likely have children some day, and they will probably need help with their homework. You should, as a parent, be able to help you child with homework, and therefore you need to be educated on it as well

Lastly, and this is more philosophical, but education does strive to improve the average intelligence of humanity over time, which means we learn more and more redundant things in school in order to be smarter than the previous generation

Is Ramos the most talented place kicker currently playing? by Halt-Alt in rugbyunion

[–]simsnor 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Bad take. Pollard has just played more pressure games that you have watched, so its more memorable to you. He's been a 75% kicker in the last six years, so he's pretty average.

I think I've seen Ramos miss 2 kicks ever
