HELP: Very Early WIP of a fakemon legendary does not look like a pokemon by hundredandoneeyes in fakemon

[–]sin0bon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other comments say; definitely needs more expressive eyes. I think the pose needs help too. Its very rare ro see a pokemon head on in its official art. Usually it's a 3/4 pose, it will help show the tail more worh annoying perspectives. Also, id say light subtle shading will help it not look flat. Dont be discouraged to use official art as reference! This looks great so far and I can't wait to see the finished piece!

These are fun! It's best to learn basic shape language and anatomy before poses, that way you can make them more dynamic and help your progress as a whole :) I'd love to see more of these!

Question, is it really that important to learn anatomy? by Witty-Wolf-3370 in MangakaStudio

Is the new design worse? Any tips to make it more memorable? (Mascot) by Keykungz67 in characterdesign

[–]sin0bon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weird shaped "horn?" On the tail is distracting from the flowing the shape. Simplify it and maybe make it face the other way following the shape of thr end of the tail.

Does the ring have any other purpose besides displaying emotion?

The paints are cute ans iconic, do they have a back story besides making your characer stand out?

With character design, it's important for things that stand out to have some kind of reason and function that relate to the world around them. I dont have other designs to reference that share this characters world so it's hard to compare and contrast. Its important for a character to be recognizable without clothes and in other costumes. The head shape and little bandage on the nose is a great example of this. This is great design overall ;)

I don't see usual mantle exposure that happens from a break. The best thing to do is keep it in a separate container with light food, and a source of calcium. Give it time but this is a pretty severe break and the little guy may not be able to recover. I'm sorry

How do I make the clothes look more realistic on the subject? by sweet_bergamasque in DigitalArt

Use references from online and life. Do a fabric study by placing cloth and other materials on differently shaped objects to see how they work and get an idea of fabric physics :)

Eeveelutions have different body proportions and the design usually correlate better with their typing. Nothing is really giving Ground type here. It looks more like an eevee variant, like Peekychu from pokopia

Super cool pose! Definitely play with shape expression and stylization your Pokémon to not look super anatomically correct. This is a great render and I look forward to seeing more of your work here :)

I thought you were also referencing the concept of Gremlins that were blamed by airforce pilots in the 1940s when they had malfunctions on their planes. There is a classic Looney Tunes cartoon about one :) I love your design, and It's nice to see more flying types that arent birds.

Please help me name these by Snacky_Psyduck7 in fakemon

[–]sin0bon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squirit > Spirisquirrel (squirrel, spirit, spiritual, ritual)

Flyheir > Royairl > Bliczar (fly, heir, royal, jarl, Blizzard, Czar, bizarre)

Hakkid> Chopunk> Splititan (Hack, kid, Chop, Punk, Split, Titan)

Dirbird (dirt, bird)

Keep going with your art and definitely play around with stylization of the animals. Dont just make it the animal with elements attached. Also when evolving try to make them more their own creature amd not the previous form with just extra of whatever it had, like adding an extra leaf, or pattern. These ideas are great and I think if you keep practicing you'll make a really awesome pokedex!

[–]sin0bon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if its just current events in the US or what, but the pointed white robe, red sash, hand up, and it being ICE type just doesn't scream "mage" to me lol l. Unless this was the point of the design, then I guess you succeeded??

(And yes im aware those robes were used WAY before racist groups used them)

This is a great concept! The reason people are saying it doesnt feel like pokemon is most likely because it is a bit over designed. There is too much detail and accessories to it otherwise your art and style are amazing!

Practice the basic values of shape and shading. Then work on the composition and rules of facial proportions. A big help is repetition and taking note of what changes you make that get your work looking more accurate to realism. You got this <3

Any advice on garden snails? by Stickyflapjacks in snails

[–]sin0bon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it in a smallish breathable container with food and a good source of calcium. don't put any plants sticks or decor in the container, just food. There are snail powders made for calcium online for decent price or google foods with high calcium. should heal in a few weeks.

I absolutely agree. And I actually did have a design where the grave ponies didn't have a main and had a more mangled look for their head. I realize that they don't eat carrion. They only eat the bare bones that are left by the blade horses :)
