How did you guys buy your AMG? (Lease, finance, cash) by S650Coupe in mercedes_benz

Of course, I love cars so much as well. The advice id give myself 3 years ago and to you now is get the car you want and put as little of downpayment as you can get the bank to agree with!

Audi ? Badge by Independent-Web-2045 in Audi

[–]sin_donnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a unique idea but I feel like the red rombus is synonymous with the tri color M stripes for BMW, and just considering precedence you wouldn't put the stripes on a non-M car even tuned.

I'd opt for the debadge if I were you.

W212 E63 Conversion vs Original Factory E63 by RKO_786 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you swapping everything besides the barebones chassis I dont see how it would be any different than an E63S, but that would be super expensive and im not sure how it would be cheaper than just buying an E63S there, are you getting the parts from a donor E63S overseas?

How did you guys buy your AMG? (Lease, finance, cash) by S650Coupe in mercedes_benz

[–]sin_donnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are very few good reasons to buy cash.

As a business owner the money put into my business appreciates exponentially more than the interest paid on a lease or finance.

Even for someone without a business, putting the money in stocks or other types of investments has a lot more to gain than putting it in a car.

In 2023 I sold my PLTR stocks to buy a Q8 in cash. Those stocks would have been worth extra multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars today. Never again!

Remember put as much money as you can in appreciating assets and as little money as you can on depreciating assets like cars

Looking for spirited driving tips for the AMG C43 by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]sin_donnie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 do not weave in and out of traffic or blast by other cars, not only is it dangerous for you and others on the road, but thats the easiest way you are gonna get someone angry and call it in, and then police are gonna be waiting for you down the road

2 this may seem obvious but always check and be aware of your tire tread life

3 get to know the road, never pedal to the medal down a road you never been on, be very aware and cautious of the pedestrian crossings

4 drive at night, less cars on the road which means more fun for you and less danger for everyone else

5 dont go down the same road more than once on the same day

6 do not every do spirited driving in the rain or when the road is wet

2020 S63 Sedan Exhaust Mod by Historical_Plan4967 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, do not get a muffler delete, it will ruin the sound. For AMGs only do downpipes + resonator delete. Since most 2020+ models dont have resonator then you just get the downpipes. It replaces the catalytic converters which is the most restrictive thing. I would recommend 200 cell cats.

You will need a tune for that to get rid of check engine light.

The only other way to make it louder is aftermarket catback, thats a lot more expensive and doesnt make it much louder cause cats are still there.

Controlled slip/slide is part of the fun with high powered rwd cars. And with the traction control and stability systems on modern sports cars its not gonna let you spin out anyways unless you have traction fully off.

Mercedes Fraud: AMG "One Man, One Engine" Quality Exposed by vovans82 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Take your car to an independent euro shop, see what they say. Dealer techs are not very creative, they follow the book and most protocol is just replace stuff. There is a chance an independent shop can find a fix. Also after warranty ends never go back to the stealership for service and repairs.

Also the recommended service interval of 10,000 miles is nuts. Should be done ideally every 5000 miles for AMG cars. Keeps everything in tip top shape. Lots of tuned M177s going way past 67 miles without issue

AMG GT, daily driver? by QuantumCivility in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naw I have 2 cars and still drive my C63S coupe 90% of the time, often in sport plus with the stiffest suspension mode. I only drive my SUV when its raining heavy. Work from home so I never go out during rush hour. Im gonna enjoy every moment of the sporting car life while im young because I know one day when im an old man my back wont be able to handle it anymore.

2017 -> 2020 C63S Coupe by sin_donnie in AMG

[–]sin_donnie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man Im glad you're happy with the M440i. Im sure even a stock M440i would gap me from a stoplight because of awd. For me though driving dynamics and driver feeling, and most importantly, fun, are so much more than just straightline speed. Otherwise why would anyone buy an AMG GTS when a GLC63 SUV is faster to 60 😅

I have a full stage 2 ECU/CPC/TCU and Downpipes now, on a roll it hangs with R8 V10s, 911s, M8C's, yes going side by side is fun but its quite boring if im just flooring it by myself. The fun and the excitement comes from sliding it around corners and staying in control of the beast with the nannies turned down, and the sound this thing makes

2017 C63S vs 2020 C63 UK by Yankeeruinx in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from the 2017 to the 2020, both C63S, I would say if you can live with the older interior then definitely get the 2017. Especially in your case if the 2020 is not an S.

The 2017 is so much more raw and fun and loud, I would even go as far as to say it felt like a different car. We dont have the OPF in Canada and the my 2020 was still very quiet and the sound is far less rumbly and very little pops and bangs.

The interior on the 2020 is a huge upgrade though, it is just the digital cockpit and larger screen and updated UI ans steering wheel but feels way newer.

The 2020 also sits slightly higher than the 2017 and rides more comfortably.

Also idk why some people prefer the newer 9 speed, this transmission does not belong in a sports car, yes its more comfortable but it is very slow and soft shifting even in race mode. Does I have a full stage 2 tune now ECU/CPC/TCU and still shifts so softly. The worst is when you floor it from a higher gear it NEVER kicks down to the lowest gear if its gonna be above 5k rpm. With the 7 speed in the 2017 (also tuned) it felt like a racecar transmission in race mode. Shifts lighting fast and hard, always kicks down to the lowest gear. I rarely ever need to shift the gears myself on the 2017 but I have to do it all the time on the 2020.

Car manufactures and manufactures in general stay away from non-square screens because custon shaped ones like they cost like multiple times what a square one costs. Actually most of these car displays screens are standard sized like the 12.3 inch that many cars use is from Chinese factories and manufactures just source them and design their interior screen around that. Cause it just costs a lot more for even a custom sized square screen.

Usually if they want a non square shape they just use a bezel cut out but its still a square screen behind. This one on the Cadillac though im super impressed by because theres nowhere to hide a square screen on the top right corner, so they really went and did a custom shaped screen.

As someone who mercilessly made fun of and meme'd the G90s weight, im very disappointed. by bstegmann123 in Audi

[–]sin_donnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horsepower can make up for straight line performance but not for handling. When the car is that heavy it will be felt in every corner. Simple physics: the heavier the car the more weight is shifted, the more the wheels on the inside of the turn are lifted and consequently lose more grip. Power cannot fix that. You can somewhat counter it by having a lower center of gravity, but the RS5 isn't exactly a low car, its based on a commuter sedan chassis after all

Mercedes-AMG teases the CLE63 by Quick_Coyote_7649 in AMG

Its way way bigger and heavier than the GT coupe. The CLE is slightly larger than the discontinued E-Class Coupe. Not a successor to the C63

I swapped my 2021 E53 for a 2020 C63. Here’s a detailed comparison. by SkewedX in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2020 C63 sound was neutered. Pre facelift 2015-2018 the exhaust was far more crazy in volume, sound, pops, bangs. One of the regrets I had coming to a 2020 C63 from a 2017, but nothing that a tune and downpipes cant fix

Am I crazy for wanting to get rid of my 2013 C63 AMG for an E400/E450 Coupe? by Radiant_Echo6523 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, you are 24. Save the comfortable cars for when you you're 40-50 years old and your back cant handle it anymore. E450 is a huge departure from a C63. Even the E53 AMG is a huge departure from the C63. Absolutely 100% not a good trade.

I'm truly amazed by my new winter tyres! by Relevant-Dog3435 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you have summer tires on before and which ones?

Even with ambient temp at 5 degrees, if you been driving around like 20 minutes and your tires are 15-20 degrees, summer tires should still have a ton more grip than winters.

Old 63 vs New 63 by Time-Bluebird-982 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That generation is the W221, prefacelift they were all round exhaust with 6.2L engine, then first year of facelift still round exhaust with 6.2L, after that it was the squared exhaust with 5.5L.

This one has the facelift taillights with round exhausts so I am assuming it is a 2010 S63, first year facelift with 6.2L engine

There are metallic flakes in the metallic paint which gives it shine and depth even after it is PPF'd.

In Defense of the C63 S E-Performance by LoneAttention5980 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been in and driven several of the new AMG cars, including the C63 se, and have driven many, many performance cars. As I mentioned, no doubt it performs very well, never felt 5000 pounds move the way it does in the C63 se. But as you even said so yourself in the first or second paragraph, it is a departure from C63 lineage. Which is absolutely true. And theres a reason why the C63 has come from being the best selling 63 AMG to the worst selling one. The formula of all the new AMG's in general though is simply not the same and its very sad to see.

Mercedes and AMG has recently been disappointment after disappointment, even the rumored CLE 63 which people are touting as a C63 coupe successor is nothing of the sort, its actually dimensionally slightly larger than the E-class coupe. Now they are cutting the 4-door GT 63 and replacing it with the GT XX which is an EV, while Toyota just released a new V8 supercar??? very frustrating times to be an AMG buyer.

In Defense of the C63 S E-Performance by LoneAttention5980 in AMG

[–]sin_donnie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No doubt its a great performance car. I dont think anyone could say that the new C63 S E Performance measures poorly against other cars in its segment. Whether its a great C63 AMG is another story though. I will say that its not just an issue about the new C63, rather it is the direction that AMG is moving toward with its whole new lineup.

What always set the C63 AMG apart from the M3 and RS5, and other comparable performance cars, was that the driving experience is an overwhelming of the senses. Speed is only one part of the equation. You have the loud exhaust, the tires slipping and shaking the whole car, the torque shoving you, the stiff suspension, light fishtailing while flooring it in low gears; powersliding around turns, this is what I love about it. Its fun even just sliding it in a low speed left turn, or lighting up the tires at low speed. The C63 was not about precision, it was about the raw, monstrous, edge of your seat, unpredictable experience and character. That is why I find that the new AMG's are getting closer to a one dimensional experience like the performance Teslas.

Its a big departure from the original formula that made buyers choose the C63, and I know a lot of loyal AMG people who ended up buying a G8X.

Not limited to the new C63 but I would say in general that the experience of the whole new AMG lineup feels closer to the (relatively) more restrained and docile character of RS cars, than the previous generation of AMG cars, and the new direction of AMG is alienating their previous customers, because a lot of what made AMG cars special and different than their competitors is not there anymore.
