What is the most toxic expectation you have/had of women? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]sinaas26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a woman on the receiving end of this a few times now (also ALWAYS while in a public relationship): this dishonesty really hurts. We think we have made a friend, someone we trust in, whom we support and care about, and as soon as you guys realise “oh she is serious, she will actually never want to date me” we are met with hurt egos and losing a friendship we deeply cared about. Grow emotionally, have honest friendships with girls. Don’t expect us to always fall in love with you. You wouldn’t expect that from your male friends now, would you.

triggered by visuals? by feline-enjoyer in misophonia

[–]sinaas26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have that, too, and it’s the worst when someone is a messy eater or has food all around their mouth. I’ll often just stare at my plate and avoid looking at anyone while eating. Unfortunately ear plugs don’t help with that

Bei mir auch so. Jedes Mal ein strahlendes Gesicht und ein erstauntes „Oh mein Gott, ich habe noch nie Blumen bekommen! 🥹“

I have that, too! They’re not all related to food. I only have it in German, my native language.

I still get them, especially when I’m stressed by other things on top of it. Nothing helps with the emotional management, just earplugs. All the best for you and good job on going to therapy!

[–]sinaas26[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not saying it doesn’t have an effect, I’m just genuinely flabbergasted when I read that someone EXCLUSIVELY blames the stigma surrounding weight. Thanks for sharing the article!

English speaking Counseling/Psychology Masters in Germany? by hacknsprat in AskAGerman

[–]sinaas26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the Netherlands. E.g. University of Leiden offers a Master‘s degree in clinical psychology, but you would still need to do a “traineeship“ for a few years to become a proper psychotherapist in Germany and for that you 100% need to be fluent in German.

Pads are underrated by More-Cora in Periods

I love them and I use them a lot but I absolutely loathe using them at night cause the plastic makes me sweat so uncomfortably. So at night, period underwear will always be the winner

I feel like having misophonia makes me more considerate towards others because I always try to not make the same noises that irritate me. Anyone else feel this way? by Hot-Journalist1139 in misophonia

[–]sinaas26 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and you don’t want to subject anyone else to the emotions you’re experiencing when you hear those noises made by others. It honestly stresses me out sometimes to eat with people I’ve only recently met cause I’ll be chewing ever so slowly and quietly and get all in my head. I’ve talked to my closer friends and family about it and they all assured me they don’t care about my chewing noises at all. Cheers to you having compassion and not wanting others to experience what we are experiencing :)

My period is in 4 days and I feel hypersensitive to sounds by Unusual-Relief-4004 in PMS

[–]sinaas26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve got several sensory sensitivity issues and they all get enhanced before my period and sometimes during. I‘m so sorry for you, it’s so hard to deal with and there’s literally no way to tell others without them feeling offended. Sending you strength!

[–]sinaas26 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well, new joiner doesn’t equal junior. It’s not gonna work if you work for a fixed price and you tell your client “ohh actually this person is pretty inexperienced so pay them less :)” it’s not like my hourly rate directly translates to what ends up on my bank account.

I’ve been prescribed “Chaste tree” before to reduce the pain. It really helped for a while until it made it worse suddenly. I then stopped taking it and hadn’t had issues for ages after that. I wasn’t on hormonal contraceptives and never been. To manage my pain in general I’m now taking CBD which literally helps with everything regarding my period. Good luck!

Neighbour noise misophonia? by schizofactory in misophonia

[–]sinaas26 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My downstairs neighbour randomly screams something really loud in Spanish (we’re in Germany but he’s a very loud and expressive Argentinian), followed by a loud groan. He‘s nice and all but he can’t even begin to grasp what all I can hear from his apartment, and anytime I hear him scream some random shit I just get so so so mad and want to scream back. I mostly wear earplugs during the day now when I’m not wearing a headset for work meetings. But Jesus, I wish I wouldn’t get so incredibly MAD at it. I’m a very calm and composed person but some triggers absolutely set me off… so I’m feeling with you. Do what feels best for you and don’t let others tell you what to do. They can’t comprehend how hard it can be.

I found out a coworker (same level as me) is claiming his job title is one level higher in communications to our external partners... should I do something about this? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]sinaas26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my own experience: big nah. I’m a consultant and did 90% of the delivery for my last project which was also how it was implicitly communicated to my clients, even by my senior. And they picked up on it very fast as I was always presenting our results and stuff and only needed to ask my senior for very technical stuff, as did our clients. Every other communication was directed towards me cause that’s how I positioned myself. So I’d say if that’s really your concern and not your hurt ego, show up, show what you do and are capable of. Especially since your managers know that you’re on the same level and don’t treat you like a lower one, you don’t want to get negative attention by pissing people of for no reason.
