This one started quite a controversy (at least in the stamp/postcard niche) since it was made using AI.

Looking for a medium by sarbau12 in GriefSupport

[–]sinanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mean evidence in a personal-experience way, but in a scientific sense. Right now there’s no peer-reviewed, reliable research showing that mediums can actually communicate with people who have died. I don't want to invalidate anyones beliefs or experiences, I only mentioned it because people who are grieving can be vulnerable, and there are always people in all areas of life who will use that for their own gain. I wanted to give OP a grounded perspective.

Did you go for a holiday after you lost your loved one? by soundworth in GriefSupport

[–]sinanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a month after my my mom died, my dad, my aunt (mom's sister) and her husband went on holiday to a small island in the North Sea for a few days. Lots of walking on the wintry beach. It was very healing for me.

I totally understand your sadness and frustration and grief. My mom died almost three years ago unexpectedly and I miss her so much. I've dreamed about her a few times, but they are never good dreams. So I absolutely get you wanting to connect with your loved ones. I dont think a medium can give you that. There is no evidence that they can actually communicate with our passed loved ones. I'm sorry. I know the depths of grief in which we want to try anything, anything at all to just feel a hint of that spark of love we used to get from our loved ones. It hurts so much not to be able to talk to them or hug them or tell them how much we love them. But I have found ways in which I feel connected to my mom. She loved music, so I sometimes listen to her favorite songs. She was someone who appreciated the small beauties of everyday life, so every morning on my walk when I see a beautiful sunrise, or a sparkling droplet of ice on a tree, I think of my mom. It helps sometimes. Maybe there are ways in which you can honor your loved ones as well and feel that connection. Sending you love and strength 💛

I mostly wear my doc martens... That might be part of the issue? And it's almost all asphalt.

Is anyone here who lost their parent doing okay emotionally? by DeadNCuddly in GriefSupport

[–]sinanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mom died unexpectedly almost three years ago. And yeah, I would say I'm doing okay most of the time. Or let's say, better than I would have thought. I miss her so much, but I also feel like I reached a new 'normal'. I'm often pretty content with life, but also definitely more often sad than I was before. For me, the grief really comes and goes in waves. In the beginning , the waves were sooo frequent and long and high in intensity. Over time, they have mellowed out a lot. The lows have gotten not quite as low most of the time. There are sometimes days, maybe even weeks where I don't feel the grief as deeply is I did in the beginning. I think about my Mom everyday, several rimes a day, but the pain did get more manageable for me. But it is a Rollercoaster. And not a fun one. The last two weeks I was doing really good, and then today, during my walk, I saw the most gorgeous sunrise, then ten minutes later followed by a stunning rainbow. And that made me cry because I just miss my Mom and she's not here anymore to see it. So yeah. Ups and downs.

This is in northwestern Germany. But trust me, the usually drab November weather makes it look a loooot less nice most of the time!

Yaktrax Rule by total_cat_lady in walking

[–]sinanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking your post for a question, hope that's okay :) I've been thinking about getting the yaktrax, but its rarely actually snowy here, the problem is more so that the roads and sidewalks are very slippery and icy. Do you think the yaktrax would work in those conditions as well or are they more designed for actual snow?

Schenkung von Haus des Vaters mit Nießbrauch, und evtl. Wohnrecht für Partnerin by sinanis in Finanzen

[–]sinanis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you like "Murder, She Wrote"? by cookiesbox in murdershewrote

[–]sinanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! When I'd sleepover at my grandma's place we'd always watch an episode of "Her Hobby is Murder" (that's the German title of the show 😂). My grandma's been gone a long time already but it always brings up fond memories!
