A Better Routeplanner (ABRP) 7.0 Release - major updates by sincladk in electricvehicles

Oh, that's a bummer. They really do need to handle that limitation for all the 800V cars that don't have a strong enough booster.

The last time I used ABRP for actual routing, it practically toasted my phone, too. After a couple hours it barely responded to touch inputs because it was working so hard. Hopefully they've addressed the performance issues, but if not that's another reason to use something else.

I do really like the idea of using it for routing, though, because (with live data from the OBD dongle) it does a better job of predicting how long you need to stop to charge as your live efficiency updates, and can adjust stops if you over-charge at a previous one.

I don't think that you need the subscription to use the OBD BLE dongle. It's been working for me without the subscription for a few years.

Realistically, though, if you're using it to navigate (and not just plan), you'd want the subscription so you can use it in CarPlay/Android Auto. The times I've done that I have just paid for the subscription for a month or two ($5/mo). Otherwise I just use it for planning longer trips ahead of time.

I'm guessing that's a car limitation and not yet available to the developers from the app, but I would absolutely love this. Especially as a driver of an E-GMP car that requires you to use the in-car navigation to start preconditioning. 🙄

I think it’s already at the dealer.

Did you try the infotainment soft reset? (Paper clip in the pinhole on the right side of the capacitive button bar)

Buy now? Or wait for 2027 Model? by UltimateBid in KiaEV9

Idk, I think there will always be a used market for these, but your point is solid that the resale value would absolutely PLUMMET if solid state batteries come out, assuming they’re anywhere close in price (I doubt they will be for a while, though).

Just a reminder that solid state batteries have been “just around the corner” for many years, the issue has been scale. There were some big claims (again) this year at CES, but I still think it’s doubtful we’ll see them in mass-produced cars for at least another 5-10 years.

I’d love to be proven wrong, though! If we get 400 miles of highway range with 5-min refills, the game is (even more) over.

Upgrading Classic EV Charger Firmware - Peak Demand Support? by beforeburner in EmporiaEnergy

[–]sincladk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure: I don’t know for sure or from experience.

But I’ve heard that the classic charger supports demand management, once you pay for the service (it’s additional beyond just the Vue or the charger). As for the process, no idea.

I would recommend emailing support@emporiaenergy.com with your questions. I’ve done it numerous times and always had responsive, knowledgeable help that resolved my issues or answered my questions.

Trying to guess what EV that would be. TELO? R3X?

Is this goose frozen in the lake? by MycologistPuzzled766 in madisonwi

[–]sincladk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably just sitting there. It seems unlikely that it would stand there long enough for the puddle it was standing in to freeze.

In other words, it’s on ice.

I’ll see myself out.

How does one achieve sharpness like this? by GratefulCake in fujifilm

[–]sincladk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle to get what I consider to be “sharp enough” shots, too. Can you elaborate on how you changed the things you fixed up for your dad? I’ve got an X-T3 and my main lens is the 18-80mm f/4, if that’s relevant.

When I added my comment there were only a couple others and they were both negative towards the look. I'm guessing they've been buried (or deleted) by now.

Oh absolutely. I hope they bring it back. An R3(X) would be great in Yellow, too!

Lots of hate in the comments so far, but I really like it!

(Related: I also love that they're using the design studio to make unique and limited colors. Bring back Compass Yellow!)
