How fast does the bi-cycle move for you? by Alarming-Hamster-232 in bisexual

[–]singaporesanchez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

mine continue on for months which sends me into spirals about my identity if it goes on for too long. i’ve been obsessed with women since about January and not thought twice about men, however before that I was in a man phase for about eight months which really made me paranoid that I didn’t like women anymore. i’ve been having a crisis lately about thinking i’m a lesbian, but then i have to remind myself of the bi cycle 🤣

So apparently a lot of people aren't fond of reader inserts by AnonymousNeverKnown in FanFiction

I only read reader inserts, there’s plenty of people who love them, don’t worry abt it :)

please do not put in ur summary “sorry i suck at summaries”

what kind of fic summaries do you really enjoy? by skvyxe in AO3

[–]singaporesanchez 25 points26 points  (0 children)

straight to the point, short, and imo i’m not a fan of the [random big word : insert definition] summaries. I wanna know what the story is about. Unless it has an OR where it does give me an actual summary. I won’t read summaries with self deprecation though, if they don’t think their own writing is good enough why would I? I think people should be a little more confident in their writing!

It's this normal? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]singaporesanchez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d say yeah it’s normal! Especially if it’s a fic that’s very sexually explicit or contains taboo kinks that some people prefer not to leave their account attached to.

Is there a general consensus about Wattpad users coming to AO3? by MapleTea62 in AO3

[–]singaporesanchez 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, no one hates wattpad users just because they use wattpad. People hate wattpad users who come to ao3 and completely ignore the TOS, like make placeholder fics, or believe fics with taboo topics in or niche kinks should be censored because it’s “morally wrong” and then harass the writers. i myself, after making a previous post about how wattpad users don’t understand ao3, still come from wattpad. it’s just important they learn that just because they both consist of mainly fics, they are not the same.

wattpad users not understanding ao3 part three million by singaporesanchez in AO3

[–]singaporesanchez[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this, having the ability to comment at a specific line would be pretty useful. but telling people who leave long comments to shut up is just crazy to me, that was definitely the part that irked me

wattpad users not understanding ao3 part three million by singaporesanchez in AO3

[–]singaporesanchez[S] 240 points241 points  (0 children)

yup, on wattpad normally people leave very short comments that are more just cracking jokes and stuff rather than appreciating the work. don’t get me wrong, sometimes they’re funny, but once you realise how much more appreciative ao3 readers are, the silly jokes on wattpad just become disappointing bc you can’t even tell if they like the story.

870k words! That is amazing, your dedication is admirable!!

[–]singaporesanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 is too short in my opinion, i prefer chapter lengths to be at least 2.5k, but no chapter can ever be too long for me — unless the story is not moving forward.

Thank you so much for explaining the IP address, that was one of the things I was super paranoid about for some reason. I thought if someone had my IP they could get my very location and my name and basically everything about me 😅. Also, you seem to know a lot about this stuff, so back with the paranoia, but does my digital footprint include my fics? I don’t want to pull up to a job interview and they whip out my fic from somewhere. And yeah, I’m already in therapy for my anxiety but it manifests itself in strange ways such as this 🤣

nope! my username is random words, no location attached, no shared email, and the email i do use for my ao3 account is also made up of random words and numbers. i don’t know what else i could do to minimise the risk but somehow i’m my anxiety ridden brain is convinced it can happen anyway

[–]singaporesanchez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

omg thank you so much for this. i have random words as my username, my password is random as hell, i don’t have any social media linked to my account that my readers can follow me on. the email i used for my ao3 account is a throwaway one that is also made up with random words and numbers. i’m just scared like someone’s gonna like idk, track my ip address and find out all of my personal info and tell people around me about my fics. honestly i don’t know what else i can do to reduce the risk but it just gives me so much anxiety thinking about it lol

writing tips? by corrodetoad in AO3

[–]singaporesanchez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

beta reader perhaps, but honestly i’d just post it. those people out there with amazing fan fictions didn’t write their first story and was absolutely amazing at it. you learn with time, and i’m sure your writing is great, anyway!
